If anyone doesn't know what this is, then think Saving Private Ryan, only a 10 part mini-series. This must be one of the most moving and overall amazing reditions of WWII I've ever seen.
There are very little "big name" actors, so it's more like you're actually watching real guys, not "Tom Hanks as a soldier" or something to that effect. The visual effects are mind-blowing (well, not in a Lord of the Rings sense, but it's more or less a very "real" feeling), and it doesn't sacrifice the actual events of the war for Hollywood-textbook storylines (like Pearl Harbor, which was complete BS until the last ten minutes). Even if war movies aren't your thing, the characters and their struggles will pull you in.
It's playing again (dubbed for TV, pick up the DVD for the uncensored version) for the next two weeks on the History Channel at 9:00 PM EST. It's definetely a must-see for anyone who liked Saving Private Ryan or any other movies of that sort.
