Hope we have an understanding before this gets any more off topic, I guess I do recognize that people feel just as strongly towards the lyrics themselves as much as the music. Without words in any music, the industry would be terrible and be so much harder to get messages and feelings across -_-

But you have to admit, a handful of songs (namely mainstream) only use words to "fill" in empty spots missing from their shallow music, I should of been more clear when I mentioned this is "brainless."
And poetry, for the most part, is simply written on paper. There is no music behind it or melodic way of reading it which separates poetry from music, however they're still both forms of art, even forms of literature if the circumstances are right.

And do not take me for close-minded--I've listened and enjoyed such a range of music, even if it's not the most "normal" range... from the sole drumbeat of the Yanomamo, to the lyrical voice of Sarah McLachlan, to the keen riffs of Catch 22. I've been there and back, not so much rap though. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate any form of music even if it seems like I do.
As long as someone else enjoys their music I can't be condemning it and I do accept that they have great talent, one way or another. I'm pretty sure I never said or gave the idea that I said "your music sucks" lol (it's just a stupid funny saying but I never said it). If I did say that blatently, that would be very foolish of me, then would it be right to harass me in any way :P
hey I'm Paddy Tanniger the caddie manager yeah it rhymes big whoop wanna fiight about it??

Billy Talent comes from a genre that I've never really been intrigued by, but I agree when you say they kick ass. Plus there is no way you could ever be confused about their lead singer's voice. He sounds like a cartoon character.

Very true, and I'd say more than a handful.

He sounds a bit like Raine Maida in early Our Lady Peace albums but with more of a punk leaning.

Ah I disagree with you there punk rock. In my eyes there is no comparison between a band like Boys Night Out and Billy Talent. Have you heard Billy Talents first single? Thats a complete ripoff of "One armed scissor" by at the drive-in. Boys Night out are so great because their sound is so original yet it still sounds great. Their old stuff like "sketch artist composite" and "where we breathe" and then stuff from their new cd like "the first time shouldn't taste like blood" and "it's dylan you know the drill." boys Night Out kick 100x more ass than Billy Talent. Especially because Billy Talent only has 1 guitar, and their guitarist has the worst hairdo in the history of humankind. Maybe I might be biased because BNO are canadian, and they come to Ottawa alot and they are just cool guys.

note- there is some horrible punk band also called boys night out, this is not the band im talking about.

                      Billy Talent fucking rules.

P.S. That At the Drive In song is possibly the worst song I've ever heard. The only thing that somewhat resembles Billy Talent is the fact that they tried to do the cool chorus thing but it just sucks.

what the hell. ATDI is fucking awesome. And they were around far before Billy Talent. So Billy Talent was the one copying them, not the other way around. Dont get me wrong, Billy Talent is alright, just nothing special.

Sigh. Is Boys Night Out original? Sure. Do they have songs that are coherent and not acoustically abrasive? Not really.

Comparing Billy Talent and At the Drive-In (RIP) with your facts is retarded. Does Billy Talent have only one guartist? Yes. At the Drive-In had TWO guitarists AND a keyboardist. Wow, if Billy Talent can sound as though they have an extra guitarist and a keyboardist, they must be fucking awesome. I'd be utterly amazed if you could find one Boys Night Out fan for every 10 Billy Talent fans.

Come on stop the arguing and spread the love. We can at least agree that we don't listen to horrible music like Britney "I'm not a whore but I dress like one" Spears or whatever the pop band of the minute is.

PS Cylor - At the Drive-In was awesome. They were and still are the best "post-hardcore" band. They never compromised their values and proved it by dissolving the band, which many bands can't say.

atdi had two guitarists but no keyboarder. in the later cds (a little on vaya and a bit more on relationship of command) cedric bixler would ues voice distortions and such and some keyboards on songs like invalid litter dept. but cedric was never really a keyboardist.

                              ps: you're right, atdi owns.

                                - Guitarist from Billy Talent: that hairdo is so awesome. It's just a giant wall of hair, man.

                                - I like The Mars Volta better than At The Drive In.

                                - Boys Night Out might just be the worst band name ever.
