Ever heard of Trackmania? Its not free, but its damn cheap, it costs about £3 to buy new here, and is quite popular online, especially with the French. You will need to download a 92meg (I think) file to upgrade to the patched 'power-up' version.

I don't think they sell version 1.0 anymore, thats why it is so cheap so your best bet is eBay.

Try out Altitude (unfortunatly I can't find a URL, even on google, PM or ?message schockedfrog in SS and he should be able to tell you)
It's basically SS from the side with planes (biplane, snoopy, a bomber etc...)
Valiant plays it.

It's hard to explain, but I guess the closest game in SS I can think of is HZ.

I happen to be buying World of Warcraft today, yay! I sure hope it's not sold out. My favority GTA game was probably GTA2 on computer. I loved the overhead view and the electric gun/fingers. I also liked the teleportation cheat .
