  • My School Is Stupid

My school has the stupidest dress code. Some excerpts:

Clothes must be clean and in good condition.
    Footwear must be worn.
Hair should be brushed and styled if possible.
Clothing that is too casual for school is not permitted.
All dresses, skirts, and shorts must be no shorter than three inches above the knee (you go ahead and measure that; they don't make girls' shorts that long!)
Mini skirts, biking shorts, and sundresses are not to be worn.
Athletic shorts are only allowed in gym class.
Tank tops, tube tops, spaghetti straps, and bare back shirts are not acceptable.
The tops of the shoulders must be covered.
Shirts and tops must be no lower than one inch below the collarbone.
A students' stomach must be covered.
Wearing of jackets/coats is not permitted.
Hats, headwear, sunglasses, and bandannas will not be worn.

We might as well be wearing uniforms. And this is a public high school I'm talking about.

Consider yourself lucky, in Australia every high school (as far as I know) has a compulsory uniform.

What does "if possible" mean? When is it not possible to brush your hair?

Define "too casual". I'm wearing dress pants and a dress shirt for work. Kackis and a nice pull over is too casual here...

My stance on this would depend on how many good looking, fit girls there were at your school.

I would have had a problem with this at my old highschool because one corner of the building was always freezing during the winter

Some teachers had a no hat rule in our school and it bugged the hell out of me. There is nothing wrong with wearing headware in school, but who on earth needs sunglasses in class?

And England, but thats stops in college (16+)

Unless you go to a shite one.

I burnt mine along with my friends at a place called the sandhills next to birkdale golf club. £££

It sounds to me like you all get off lightly. I don't see any problem in that dress code.

People here are 19 when we head to college hehe. Good old grade 13 in highschool ... well they got rid of that, but I enjoyed it. 23 and still finishing up university, go Ontario

That dess code is probably because they think it will deter violence or something. There were no real rules at my highschool and in 5 years there, I remember maybe 2-3 fights that broke out between no more than 2 guys each time.

Basically If I don't go to college, I can get a full time job in september. then after college (2 years) i could get a better job, or go to university for a degree and get a really decent job...

Basically I'm just trying to dodge tax for as long as possible.

                my high school

so my school has a pencil sharpener in the lunchroom, who the fuck sharpens thier pencils during lunch? not me!
Like, there was this ninja who got
ticked off at some people who kept
talking while he was trying to rock
out on his guitar, so the ninja totally
flipped out and sang at them till
                they all exploded!!! (true story.)

I go to a school for "gifted/talented" (ie: the 700 people in louisiana who are not batshit retarded) and theyre all hippies, so there is no, literally no dress code except the whole "well you gotta wear something" rule.

The weird thing is, there isnt offensive clothing anyways. I think the most offensive shirt ive ever seen anyone wear was this "fag" shirt (here)

That dress code you posted is very reasonable. A uniformed dress code is a lot more preferable. One of the reasons kids are ostracized is for what clothes they wear. Kids shouldn't feel shitty because they don't have the coolest clothes.

Damnit, that means I can't wear my burlap sack to your school.

Anyways, my high school had the same exact rules. But, if you look at these, they're really not that bad, you can generally wear whatever you want, within reason. They just don't want a buncha hoochies goin around distracting the little boys.
