I'm sure a few of you have seen or heard of this before. jDoom is an enhanced win32 port of id Software's Doom.
- It uses the Doomsday engine which is an extended win32 version of the original doom engine. Doomsday provides OpenGL support, Particle effects, Dynamic light effects and 3D sound;
- It works with any version of shareware and registered Doom, Ultimate Doom, Doom II and Final Doom. One of these versions is required to play, as it requires the .wad files;
- Customizable Controls;
- Mouse look;
- Enhanced menus with features such as scalable gfx and sound, plus a multiplayer menu.
There are also custom maps, models, textures and sounds available to download.
Shareware versions of Doom, Hexen and Heretic can be found here:

And the jDoom, jHexen and jHeretic files can be found here:

With all the hype about the release of upcoming Doom III, I think this would be a great way to get into the swing of things, so dust off that old copy of Doom and get it installed along with jDoom!
EDIT: Just tried my first playtest. The engine is very much like the Quake 3 engine, very extensive set of options, sounds are great just like the original but much better quality, graphics are just like the original but custom textures and models are a must!
Excellent extension, a must for all old school Doom fans and for those of you who are anticipating Doom III.
