k here's my reason for saying that.
The animals that are skinned, are bred for that one reason their fur. And the animals we eat are bred for one thing (maybe more than just food).
But if you think that mink and fox are hunted and used for the skin you're completely mislead and ignorant. The fur that fur coats are made of are from mink, beaver etc farms.
i have to eat so i'll write mroe after. There once was a man from Nantucket.

Adman the reason people make a distinction between animals bred for fur and animals bred for meat is that animals bred for fur are generally much more cute (cuter?) than animals bred for meat. Why do animal-rights idiots (as in, the animal-rights activists who are idiots, not that all animal-rights activists are idiots.) protest the killing of mammals but not fish? Why don't they care about killing mosquitos, or eating plants? Plants are life-forms too. So is skin-eating bacteria. But those things don't have cute little beaty eyes so nobody gives a shit about them.
Now look at Buddhist monks who believed all life was sacred. Those bitches didn't even step on plants. They didn't even kill mosquitos as their blood was being sucked out of them. That is a real animal-rights activist. Not the stupid shits that use the phrase "fur is murder." They don't worry about killing mosquitos because they don't want to have to sacrifice any of the conveniences of life, but they still want the right act like they're better than others and bitch at them.
When you look at it in this light, the phrase fur is murder is hypocrasy. (Edit: Unless it's said by a Buddhist monk)
And sorry about that Ignorant post, it was just too tempting.Last edited by Feoren; 08-16-2004, 09:25 PM.

i see words, but they ain't making sense, i'm ignorant. If you're argument is about cuter animals you're dumb. My argument is that they are bred for a purpose so that WILD animals can thrive. And I'm still going to eat my fat tbones and wear my chinchilla coats and my mink ear muffs.Last edited by Adman; 08-16-2004, 10:44 PM.There once was a man from Nantucket.

I am mostly agreeing with him, saying that the statement "fur is murder" is hypocritical because the people who say it are hypocritical. Read above for an explanation why.
Edit: And if you're talking about my all-quote post, that was just done on impulse. I took grammatical and spelling errors made by Adman and quoted them next to him saying ignorant. I really didn't think I'd have to explain it.

An argument can be made for eating meat in the sense that humans evolved eating a diverse diet including meat as a source for protein. So while there are other sources of protein available, we didn't climb to the top of the food chain to eat beans and soy.
From an evolution standpoint, humans have traditionally eaten a fair amount of meat in their diets. From a holistic standpoint, humans should be eating meat, fruits, nuts, greens, and not be eating the ton of processed crap that fills most of our diets today. I see no one protesting the maltodextrin a bag of pretzels, a vegetarian that I work with munches these without thinking about it, but gives me crap when I order a piece of meat. Our teeth and digestive systems have evolved for meat in our diets. I am not so sure that our bodies are suited for the chemicals that exist in processed foods.
