Lets look at my first Playstation. At the end of it's run, the lid opening button was broken so I had to tape down my lid, or just leave something with a bit of weight on top of it. Nothing too bad, but annoying none-the-less.
Now, my Playstation 2. As you've seen, I have to run it with the lid off and now, I have about 5 dial settings to go though when I try to run a disc. I just rented that Def Jam game. When I turned it off last night and went to bed, I decided to turn it back on to go customize my character a bit while I was waiting for my friend to get here. Well, spank my ass and call me charlie, if the damned thing didn't come on. No, I didn't touch the CD, I didn't change anything, I didn't touch a God Damned thing, and well shit, the thing won't work now. I have to spend about an hour "tricking" my Playstation to get it to work now.
Fuck Playstation, its made like a fucking Honda Civic.

Well, the upcoming PSTwo, a stream-lined new edition of the familiar PS2 (just like how Sony produced the more compact PSOne a few years back) is not going to be compatible with the PS2 hard drive. This could mean that Sony is rethinking the usefulness of a hard drive in future consoles, or it could just be a cost-saving move. In any case, I don't think the folks at SquareSoft are too pleased with that change.

Well with the hype that Sony set up about the HDD, they certainly have shot themselves in the foot with how they are barely using it, I mean you could probably count on one hand how many games actually use it, I think so far it is only FFXI and SOCOM II actually, maybe 'm a tad wrong. But as far as PS3 using a HDD, I severely doubt it, I mean why put a HDD on your new system, when you don't touch the one on your old system?

Y'know... if you were any stupider, I swear death by laughter would be a real medical occurance.
The problem is that they have to be progressive in their thinking. There might not be much use for it at this time, but with the PS3 they're looking ahead 4 or 5 years. The PS2 HDD came out just this past year and we're nearing the end of the PS2's life cycle. It's probably a case of being too late for the PS2 HDD to make much of an impact. The PS3 on the other hand could be HDD ready right from the get-go. They might be mulling over whether or not it may be useful down the line. They can look at the XBox and see how consumers like the hard drive there, but on the other hand, they don't want to be like the N64 and its 64 DD. Even then, it might be better for the PS3 to have the potential to add a hard drive than be stuck with a machine that can't use one if things change and the concept finally catches on.

Except one problem Troll, PS2 was supposed to have the HDD years ago, because it was launched with the idea already in mind and they delayed it SO MANY TIMES. That's why so many people are upset, and people are going to think, well if the PS3 has a HDD, it's probably going to be just like the PS2, so why get the PS3 HDD. They screwed themselves over, because Sony could be doing just small things with it as we speak, downloadable levels for all games, new weapons, new characters, file sharing *coughreallyneedstobedonecough*, an XBox Live set up( Microsoft is so blowing Sony away with this ), demos, trailers, videos, the list goes on and on and it doesn't take that long and that much money to do it all. They, as I said, shot themselves in the foot when they delayed it so much, and now they are just beating their bloody foot with the butt of the gun.

Honda Civics last forever... what are you talking about? Did you get a PS2 right when they came out? I've heard the first-gen PS2s had a lot of problems. I got mine when GT3 came out, and I've left it on for weeks at a time, and otherwise treated it like total crap, and it still works fine.

My Ps1's lid is messed up a bit, like you have to hit the open button then close it and let go of open for it to stay(its quite old and wasnt taken care of as best it should be)...the Ps2...isnt mine(its my brothers) hes dropped it(broke the gear that moves the eye back and forth), but it still works...just every nwo and then needs a new glue job(weve got a different one since his father buys him everything(for christs cake hes had 4-5 different Ps2's that hes broken because he cant take care of em)
