Maybe I should have just titled the thread "TW Artists and Writers" so people would stop bitching.

Jason and Troll are writers, which makes them "literal artists" or artists who express themselves through word instead of picture. Writers can make anyone visualize a setting/person with words almost as well as an artist can by actually drawing it. I read Troll's story segments and I could picture the setting and the characters, thus that makes him an artist. I skimmed Jason's stuff( would have actually read it if not for the "meh" comment ) and he makes a pretty good attempt at making you feel what he feels, thus artist.

Written, drawn, photographed, taped or coded, self expression is art, period.

So stop flaming each other, if you don't like pictures being on here, or stories/poems, don't read this thread or don't read/view that particular post.

Remember, no one, no one can have a clear cut and perfect definition of what art is, because art is always changing. 100 years ago, there was no such thing as "cinematic art" aka movies, 50 years ago there was no "interactive art" aka video games. Art keeps expanding to include different things, and it has included writing for as long as people had the intelligence to write.

I retract my 'meh' comment. You're a stand up guy. This fella has it down folks. To each his own. Art is meant to be appreciated, not pissed on.

SpiderMage, I only said 'meh' because I watch too much damn anime, so the stuff just doesn't do it for me anymore. I took some time and looked back over your stuff, and you have some pretty kickass talent. I could definitely see you getting into professional illustration.

I would rather say that writing an actual story makes it easy to think it is good.

Poems (like the ones Jason writes) are more personal, and that's why it is harder for a reader to understand them. That doesn't make them better or worse.

Ok so maybe you think TK is better, I dunno. Just wanted to point out that it's not an obvious thing to see just by looking at TK's thread and being "ooo this is long" and then looking at Jason's thread and being "5 lines, that's it? What the hell?".

I just read a book full of short stories by Charles Bukowski, he's quite special...hehe. He's not bad at all, just a bit obsessed with women, booze, shitting, and being out of work. Oh forgot, betting on horses. In short, I'm going to borrow some more books by him at the library, lol.

'm going to thumb through my computer and the other computer, see if I can find s'more art of mine that is somewhat recent, anyone care to see the SpiderMage lil web comics I did, only did 4 and I got the idea from a fan art I was going to do of LotR characters as FFXI classes, then it changed to Marvel characters, then it changed to just Spider Man as a Black Mage. Also I have some work in progress in my sketch book that I can scan if you want to see.
