The great Imperial Year of year 42,065
In the year of 42,065 Cadia was invaded by several Tyranid fleets. Possibly the greatest invasion ever recorded in the Imperial Degostantus. Cadia is a forge world off the edge of the Eye of Terror which is also known as the Chaos Galaxy.
After 1 1/2 under siege Cadia's defence began to buckle.
High Marshal Delane Oktor ordered an evacuation to Tanith which was about a 20 minute sub space jump to reach. About 1200 thousand dropships made it to the planet. The rest were intercepted by Tyranid Bio-Ships or never made it off the ground.
Shortly after the planet was taken over by the Tyranids and they had already started stripping the Bio-Mass off the planet.
Back on Tanith Commissar Ibram Gaunt prepared his tanith troops to make an ettempt to retake the planet back. With the help of the left over Cadians and some Ultra Marines the Adeptus Mechanicus spared the Imperial Guard launched an attack on Cadia.The attack was effective but the Tyranids had allready damaged the planet. Cadia was retaken back which took 3 months.
Though some regions were rendered uninhabitable there was still areas which the planet could support life. exactly 1 month later a smaller fleet was launched at cadia. The cadian Navy destroyed the fleet before it even reached cadia's atmosphere.
Gaunt was awarded with a purity seel because it wasn't Gaunt's war to fight.
It was a great victory but there was still more to look for in the grim darkness of the year 40,000.
