The AP seems to have retracted the article, and/or their site is just plain broken, but not before ABC picked up on the story., apparently with some new information for us.
Nov. 3, 2004 - Sen. John Kerry will concede the presidential election this afternoon, after a victory in the battleground state of Ohio appeared hopelessly out of reach, ABC News has learned.
The Democrat is expected to give a concession speech at 1 pm ET in Boston. He has been meeting with his advisers since Republicans declared that President Bush had Ohio and his bid for re-election.Originally posted by WardOK.. ur retarded case closed

Let's hope no Americans overreact. I'm thinking someone's going to try and assassinate the president, people wont stand for this but it looks like a better option then a civil war breaking out.Last edited by Cops; 11-03-2004, 01:08 PM.it makes me sick when i think of it, all my heroes could not live with it so i hope you rest in peace cause with us you never did

Every single president elected in a year ending in 0 has either
A) Been Assassinated
B) Had an assassination attempt on there life.
With 1 exception: Geroge W. Bush (but mind you, he isn't finished yet, he's still got 4 years to dodge bullets)
EDIT: 5 or 0 says a lot too. considering it's ever 4 years that an election happens. (4 - 8 - 12 - 16 - 20 (ASS) - 24 - 28 - 32 - 36 - 40 (ASS) )
It's a 20 year scale man!
(don't believe me, look it up. Who are the famous assassess (is that a word? ppl who got assassinated)
Kennedy - elected in 1960 - Killed - November 22, 1963
Lincoln - elected 1860 (again in 1864) - Killed - April 14, 1865Last edited by Nickname; 11-03-2004, 01:33 PM.The only TWO TIME TWLJ All-Star and TWLB All-Star who never played a game.

Kookie, you crazy.
Kerry speech coming soon. EDIT: Actually, they pushed it back again.
The Democrat called President Bush after 11 a.m. ET to congratulate him on his victory. An aide to Kerry described the conversation as "courteous," with the Massachusetts senator saying, "Congratulations, Mr. President." Bush responded by calling Kerry an "admirable, worthy opponent" who ran a tough campaign. Kerry and Bush, the aide said, agreed that they must work together to bridge the division in the country - - which was reflected in the hard-fought, sometimes bitter campaign.
Kerry is expected to give his concession speech at 2 p.m. ET in Boston, with his vice presidential running mate, John Edwards, at his side.

Seeing as how the white male vote seemingly decided this one, let me stand up and make a couple things clear. Because my demographic seemed to vote for Bush on his stances on "moral issues" and "terrorism", let me drop a couple of f-bombs on you.
Reasons why voting Republicans suck:
1. Moral Issues. I could almost go ahead and re-label this one "gay marriage," since anything discussed openly (in the media, rallies, etc.) boiled down to this. Very simply, I don't understand how the fuck this matters. TO ANYONE. Well, anyone except lesbian/gay couples who would like to gain the same rights under law as hetero couples.
Now, I'm a straight, white male, but what the fuck does it matter to me whether Doug and James want to get married? Will I have to lie inbetween them in their bed at night? Will I pay any more money? Do I have to watch them make out? No. The answer is no, and I don't understand why people have to assure themselves that they won't be seeing any dirty, dirty gay marriages any time soon. People who consciously vote against gay marriage being legal are stupid. Plain and simple. They're stuck in some mystical land in which mint julips are still the shit and they're brought to you by your loyal man servant.
What else about morals? Oh yeah, stem cell research. Again, I don't understand how exploring the possibility of using tissue to make some of the biggest medical advances mankind has ever seen could possibly be a bad thing. Shit, even if you're looking at it as an economic issue, a total ban in America can only be bad for American science. Bio-tech is the wave of the present/future, assholes. Well, at least California sees it.
Finally, you have abortion. Jesus, can we stop talking about this already? No one's "pro abortion." No one's all about killing babies or making A Modest Proposal a reality. What's wrong about having it as a choice for people who already get a choice on how they live the rest of their lives? Get the fuck off my civil liberties and let me do what I want.
2. Terrorism. This shit makes me downright angry, and it really boils down to two arenas:
In the US: For Bush's camp to declare "we've stopped the terrorists from attacking since 9/11" is pure and utter bullshit. Yes, this administration has made a few things marginally better security-wise (air travel, etc), but the fact remains that if a group or person really wanted to pull something off, I have no doubt that they could. I wouldn't be surprised to see something happen within the next four years--not at all. If I were to rank my "personal safety" now and compare it to six years ago, not much has changed. If anything, I probably feel less safe.
Abroad: Apart from intimidating and souring the rest of the world on the US, we haven't done much to contain or control terrorism. Shit, we did a better job of controlling communism during the Cold War. Moreso, we've started on a military campaign under the guise of "eliminating terrorism" which amounts to nothing more than war profiteering.
Am I bitter about this election? Yeah, I am. I thought I lived in a country where people were smarter than this outcome. Oh well. Color me wrong.Music and medicine, I'm living in a place where they overlap.

I'm disapointed. I think people vote without educating themselves on what's actually important.
That said, the election's over, and we have what we have, which isn't all bad. Sure, there's some freakish right-wing hate mongers. I believe it's oklahoma's new senator that thinks gays shouldn't be allowed to teach in our schools. But then there's good news like Obama winning illinois in a landslide (clinton/Obama in '08!).
I think it's time to be optimistic. In some ways Bush's re-election is a good thing. He'll probably want to leave a legacy in his second term, so maybe he'll be more willing to work with democrats and republicans together to get things done. There's no way he'll want to leave a mess in Iraq to the next president 4 years from now, the country would never forgive him, so maybe he'll bust ass to get that fixed up. I think he's made a lot of mistakes, but I'm ready to put that behind us (as if he cares what I think) and look to the future.
And all the dumbasses that say they're moving to canada... please go. Dumbshits say that every election and they know damn well they're not going anywhere, so prove me wrong. leave.http://www.trenchwars.org/forums/showthread.php?t=15100 - Gallileo's racist thread

There can be absolutely no Hillary running in 2008. That's the fast ticket to even worse times for Democrats ahead.
EDIT: And I'm all out of optimism. This is going to be a long, hard slog, and I'm willing to do what it takes, but it's difficult to be optimistic with this group of guys. But I'm joining in a thread digression.Originally posted by WardOK.. ur retarded case closed
