Actually, this isn't a particularly accurate statement. The presence of Senatorial seats causes the less-populated states to have a disproportionate voice in the electoral college.

I think its bs that the person with most votes doesnt nessecarily win..

I mean most people voted for the one dude, why should the other win.

From what I have heard about the European guys that are checking these elections out over there, they have all said that this isnt a democracy.

EDIT: Besides all this, the voting thingy is being organised by the party's itself and not by a 3rd independent party if I am correct, and therefor are biased.. wich is total bullshit. In the netherlands we never have to stand in line for longer then 10 min max.

However you look at it, the places of voting is going to be biased. There are three judges however in each place of voting, each party is represented. It's hard to keep things perfectly unbiased, butg I think on the micro-scale, the system we have now does a pretty good job. The Electoral College is a very interesting debate however, it's been debated millions of times (and I believe once before on these forums if I'm not mistaken), and I'm always interested in what people have to say about it.

Thats what i was trying to say, the states with smaller populations get less votes, therefore the states with larger populations matter more, hence controlling sorta ish

At least in Canada you can vote for who you want to. And not between 2 candidates/parties.
                I do not believe that.

Hahahaha because last elections were such a sellout, this year they send observers from other countries. This Welsh guy laughed at the way the US votes, it was so pathetic. Basicly one of the parties, Democrats or Republicans, organize the vote in a region, wich should be done by an independent group.
I thought that only in those really fucked up 3d world country they would have lines of hours. And only in those countries it would be allowed for people to harass people in line.
And the registering to vote is also a load of bullshit, it was designed back in the days as answer to the black people being allowed to vote. Ow, they can vote now? Let's make a system wich makes it very hard for them to vote.
In some states it's possible for people who aren't from the US to register to vote.
About the electoral college, it was the only way to get smaller states to join, so you can't just get rid of it now. It's like saying that if a hostage taker won't be killed if he comes out, and you shoot him when he does.

                        The joys of postal voting

Anyway i'll have to agree that it isn't a democracy, in a democracy everyone votes on something and the side with the most votes wins... In america one person can have more votes than the other and still lose....
                        That sucks :chair: (hits america)

that's right!...lunchtime...ermmmm bush got popular vote too, so electoral college system makes no difference in this case...that is if he wins.

whoever wins Ohio wins election atm. Bush is ahead by 150,000 votes so far out of about 5 million votes counted there. they will have to wait 11 days to even start counting provisional votes (these are votes by people who weren't on registry for one reason or another, they need 11 days to verify that which and how many of these votes are legitimate to count). They also need to count the absentee ballots, votes from Americans over seas in another country. Many of these votes are from American soldiers, and from polling military members tend to vote for Bush...meh still some hope for Kerry but unfortunately looks like Bush has that....meh can't be that bad...maybe he's learned some things after making his numerous mistakes.

It would help the world if they help us in Iraq no matter which president we have...just because many of you believed it was the wrong war and hate bush, most of u probably would agree that the sooner Iraq stabilizes the better the world will be. and im pretty sure many of u hate terrorism more then bush, that is what we are fighting over there. (i mean, original war was to topple sadam...but now terrorists are going their to conduct their jihad with cowardly tactics of bombing even iraqi children :P) time for whining is done since election over.

The sooner Iraq stabilizes, the sooner Bush can go to Korea.
