Yes, history is a great tool to abuse. If it wasn't for Europe, there would only been living Indians (funny, they are called Indians :P) in America right now.. so what is your point exactly?
I know that the mayority of American people think they don't need allies and the opinion of those allies, but you should know more about the world around your country before you judge on this case.
You might notice if China outgrows the US and the world economy turns to the east. Therefor it's better for the US to vote an cooperative president than a war-president. It's very nice that at this point you have invested most in weapons than any other large country, but if countries like China and Japan would ever do so, they would be a stronger nation within a decade.
I guess they just value other things than playin the arrogant prick of the world.

I've always wondered why americans base everything on weapons. I mean, if we could go back to the day when weapons didn't exist yet, and all the countries in the world would make a deal NOT to ever try to produce weapons, and they would all be obliged to follow that deal, then I'll be damned if there wouldn't be any redneck in USA who would be thinking something along like "HEY LET'S PRODUCE MASSIVE WEAPONS OF DESTRUCTION TO ENSURE WORLD PEACE!". Not to brag or anything, but Navy Seals = A joke, their "minimum" requirements are pathetic, run 500yards, swim 200yards (note no time limit on either), 40 pushups in 2 minutes, 5 pullups in 5 minutes, 3 hits @ 300yards.

while weve got 3000meters in 12mins, swim 400 meters in 5 mins, 60pushups in 1 minute, 10 pullups, 10 or more hits lying down, kneeling and standing up in a "timed" test.
