Bwahahaha. You think it's bad on that end, just think how the people here who voted for Kerry feel. I can't begin to tell you how many ignorant ass people I've talked to or heard blather on about Bush being the right guy to be president for shitty ass reasons:

-He should finish what he started!

-He found Saddam, he can find Osama!

-We freed Iraq, and he's kept us safe for 3 years!

Etc, etc. Oh well, I'm just going to sit back, relax and enjoy life until WW3 takes care of all of this.
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

Not the best explanation, but a lot better than "OMG THE BIBLE SAYS ALL GAYS SHOULD DIE!!!"

        1) His tax dollars wouldn't be going to help them. The gays would just be paying less tax. It's not like married couples get subsidized by the government.

        2) If there weren't any ignorant ass people like that moron, no one would make fun of the kid.

So that guy isn't logical at all. The good old "I don't want my tax dollars..." argument is so flawed in so many ways. There's so many bad things that tax dollars can possibly do especially in a time of war when innocents are getting jailed or slaughtered.

at this point the democrats can't be trusted to microwave popcorn, anyway in 2000 the repblicans were like theres no way theyd reelect clinton with all this shit we got on him. The lesson is, people are stupid, if u get into the white house u might as well get a few bjs and bomb some dudes while u are at it.

I think you misunderstood what his point was. We've all been through grade school and know how mean kids can be. People with glasses or braces get made fun of. To have someone find out your parents are gay would most likely add to the list of things to be teased about. We're talking about kids that are 6-10 years old here, not adults.

Epi already did this, but I got some things to say about this too...

the tax benefits are such a small part of marriage that it's not really the point. Gay couples have trouble getting into hospitals to see each other because they're "not family". If one of them dies, a will leaving everything to their partner often won't hold up if the family contests it. If one has a job with health insurance, the other can't be covered by it.

The issue isn't really gays adopting, but even moving on to that.. a kid with two loving parents that actually WANT him is a good thing in my book, no matter what sex the parents are. Being made fun of isn't as bad as growing up in foster homes.

What if the gay people don't want their tax money to benefit married heterosexuals?

The democrats have nowhere to go. Simply put America showed it likes it's politicians red, it's gays unmarried, and it's fear all over the place. Bush will make a mess of things to come, and I fully anticipated at least 1 assassination attempt. Cheney however is healthier than we think and i don't forsee him "dropping dead" in the near future. Edwars will win the primary in 08, he'll beat Hilary for sure (nobody is going to elect a woman)

The real question is, with Edwards shinign clearly as the Democratic hope of the future -- how does he stay in the public eye over the next 4 years now that he's unemployed (having lost his seat in NC to a repub, because he was doing this little vice presidential run)

Most everyone got made fun of for some reason or another in elementary school or middle school, primarily because kids in elementary school and middle school are assholes. However, if you have the self-esteem to either fix the problem (there were a few kids at my school that got made fun of for being fat, and lost a bunch of weight as a result, and got to actually go on dates and stuff), or just deal with it and ignore it. The fact that people think that being the child of gay parents is wrong, but they have no problem with the divorce culture or the daycare culture in our country just baffles me. I have four cousins with lesbian parents (not the same parents, two families of two kids each) and all of the kids are completely well-adjusted. They had some issues with being teased, but in general, nobody wanted to tease them because they liked them. So, while it's a small sample size, that's 4/4 kids with gay parents that I know that are pretty well-adjusted.

But you have Kerry going around campaigning saying dumb things like "we're gonna hunt and kill the terrorists" almost as much as Bush. If you listen to Clinton talking about terrorism, whether you like him or not, you know he's a smart guy and has a pretty good understanding of what makes the world tick. In the latest rallies there wasn't much difference between Bush or Kerry's rhetoric so you may as well vote for the guy you know best. Kerry's advisors should be shown the door and beaten-up on the way out.
there was a very good reason for kerry to moderate his rhetoric and sound a lot like bush. kerry knew that anyone with a brain was going to vote for him already, just because nothing could be worse than bush, even a democrat sounding a lot like bush couldnt be worse than bush. however, people with a brain only make up about 1/3 of the american population, so that wasnt enough to win the election. kerry's strategy was to tone it down to the point where he could attract the highest number of moderate voters. getting up on stage and shouting exactly what hardcore democrats want to hear is not helpful. all of those people are going to vote democratic no matter what.
