thats completly false. Now i'm as proud of my Irish heritage and my Irish passport as the next guy, but people are leaving Ireland by the truckload for england because they're are NO JOBS. Canada is always at the very top of that list and doesn't make the top 10? Seems fishy.

The 2004 UN Human Development Index, released Thursday, put Canada in fourth place, behind Norway, Sweden and Australia. The United States ranked in 8th place, and the United Kingdom in 12th.

In 1992, Canada ranked at the top of the index. It fell to the third spot in 2001, and then to the eighth spot in 2002.

With a little research i found out that Calgary is #1 for the worlds top ranked cities for health and sanitation, Ottawa is #4.

Overall quality of life ranking Vancouver takes #3 in the world.

Lithuania Has the most suicides per year coming in at a massive 42,000 inhabitants killing themselves off.
Russia takes runner up with 37,400 suicides a year.

US takes 3rd for divorce rates.

Brazil has the highest national dept owing $232,004,000,000

And I'd take the UN's ranking over an independant company survey..

Scandinavia comes from scandinavianism, a political movement that was active in the middle of the 19th century and wanted to unite the three nordic countries Sweden,Norway and Denmark not only culturally but also economicly and politically.. Their goal was to create a strong nordic union to hold off mainly against the russians (who had taken Finland from Sweden in the beginning of the century) and were getting super strong (as you know) but also secondly to secure the southern borders were the german nationalists were getting stronger for every year (as you know)
It was just another typical 19th century phenomenon just like all the other nationalistic movements on the european continent at the time.
