  • NBA Game Erupts Into a Near Riot

If you don't have time to watch the whole thing, this clip is the best part anyway. Some dude gets lit up with a seriously well-timed punch from Jermaine Oneal.

    http://home.comcast.net/~superfx/stuff/artest.avi

Indiana's Ron Artest and Stephen Jackson charged into the stands and fought with fans in the final minute of their game against the Detroit Pistons on Friday night, forcing an early and ugly end to the Pacers' 97-82 win.

The game was stopped with 45.9 seconds remaining when a pushing and shoving between the teams spilled into the stands after fans began throwing things at the players near the scorer's table.

My favourite NBA game of all time, now. They played that shit all over TV in replays. Lol. Reminded me of a Soccer game riot... except no SWAT(like) guys.

that wasn't well-timed, that was a sucker punch. dude was on his knees just trying to stand up, didn't do a damn thing to oneal. That's one of the few parts of this where I think a player should be seriously punished.

Maybe he didn't do anything to Oneal, but the fat guy who got busted in the grill tried to take down Artest just a moment before. It's pretty clear those two cats went onto the floor looking for trouble, not to stay OUT of trouble.

Basically, if you're stupid enough to leave the stands and strut onto the court and pick a fight with a 7-footer, you deserve what you get.

5 min, 81 mb clip of the fight. That was crazy. Someone should get banned from a few games for that, at the very least.
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

i don't think ron artest should be banned due to the very important fact that he's on my fantasy nba team

Well, getting in a fight with the other team and then the fans is one way to get time off to promote your rap album.

atleast Artest can focus on his r&b, not rap, music producing career

                        I agree

Just want to add something, if you noticed, the guy Ron Artest took down already had a drink in his hand so how could he have thrown a beer at him? Another thing is the media, they portrayed Detroit fans as hooligans even though they got punched all over and where were Pistons players to help out their fans? One more thing I saw all these Detroit fans watching while other spectators are being knocked all over the arena, they moved aside to watch. If this had happened somewhere in Europe you would see fans gang up and kick the shit out of the whole team. I just feel sorry for that guy who got punched by Artest and then later by some other Indiana player. I blame everyone from Pistons that night, their police who managed to only escort Indiana players out of the arena, their fans those who stood and watched (respect to those who tried to help out) and their players who also stood and watched their fans get knocked all over. Don't get me wrong I am not supporting any kind of Hooliganism here, I just think fans should have been protected that night especially those in first rows because after all they are the ones who come every night to watch their favorite team. What do they get? They get coach Larry Brown to appologize for THEIR BEHAVIOUR and get no protection from THEIR POLICE and NO protection from THEIR OWN PLAYERS.

I agree with both Tyson and J=T. Yeah, there should be no reason to jump up into the stands and attack spectators. However, if I put myself in the player's position--shit man, if a few people threw drinks at my face, I'd be more than a little pissed. Especially since the police/security did nothing about it.

And the two fatties that came down onto the floor? I seriously wish they got beaten worse. If I go to a rodeo (god forbid--someone fucking shoot me if I ever do) and leave my seat to go down into the ring, do I get sue if the bull attacks me? No, I've forefeited my right to do that by putting myself in harm's way. Even moreso if I start taunting the bull. Fuck those two dudes, I hope charges get pressed against them.

Don't get me wrong, what happened was unconscionable. But fans, as well as players, need to take responsiblity for their actions. If you're sitting at home and you throw a drink at your TV, that's one thing. If you're sitting in an arena and throw a drink at a player, expect a response.
Music and medicine, I'm living in a place where they overlap.
