Caribbean stud is nice. You can really make your money last if you don't play stupid. I'm still a big fan of blackjack though.

She just called a few minutes ago and said she won $1,600 too. So I'm not complaining about her being gone

Those people are the same people who like rpgs. <_< As with any addiction it has it's thrills/hopes. Yah it's boring and sucks alot of the time but the same is true with drugs.

When I turned 19 I used to hit up the Windsor Casino to play some slots and have a few (many times more) drinks. I used to see some really disgusting things going on there. People not eating, drinking, sleeping.. smoking cigarettes one after another after another with just absolutely no break in between packs. People pissing in their seats, or wearing and using Depends so they don't have to use the restroom.. things like that. They guard those slots with their lives. I had an old woman hiss at me for just looking at one of her machine(s). Yes, plural. These addicts take over whole banks of slot machines in an aisle. And believe me, they are their own guard dogs.

I went a couple weeks ago to Greektown Casino and I played for 2 HOURS on one quarter slot machine with a meager 20 bucks. It would take a few credits, give me a couple. Take a couple more, go back and forth until I was down to the last 1 credit, and then it would spit up 25 more. Repeat. I was in love. Security was watching us and the machine like vultures, as if we were somehow doing something illegal. It was hella fun. It did, in the end, as always, take my last credit, but it was the best $20 I ever spent. It was well worth my time and money because it was fun.

I'm 25 now, so I frequent the Detroit casinos since I don't have to bring my stupid birth certificate to get across the Ambassador Bridge that way, or get searched and harrassed by Customs. It's been a couple years since I went to Windsor, but I liked it better than Greektown and MGM. MGM just seemed to be a really cheap knock-off of the big Las Vegas high-rollers.

But I'm more interested in the 'scene' than I am the actual gambling. I will only bring a $20 bill and nothing more with me, and I'm happy the entire night. I like to watch people. I'm an art student, and I would eat my first-born to be able to take pictures inside the casino because it's just a friggin' plethera of picturesque opportunities.

But alas, Detroit sucks. None of the casinos would let me take pix. And they don't give out free drinks, either. Bastards.

As far as addicts go, I don't go too often and I don't go past my $20 limit, so I'm pretty sure I'm in the clear. But when I take my best friend, she goes insane. She spends a hella lot more than she has, and I can't ever get her to leave the place. Well, she does have 10 maxed-out credit cards, so that pretty much gives away the addict in her. But I didn't find out until recently. Had I known that.. well.. woulda, coulda, shoulda left her at home.

I did have extended family with horrible gambling problems. One would drive the family so far into debt that they needed thousands of dollars from other extended family to bail her out of their situation. It wasn't pretty. And it was heartbreaking for everyone involved. She died recently of lung cancer, still smoking her damned cigarettes through a hole in her throat.

Don't kid yourself on addiction. If you have to, take all the money and cards from your wallet before you go, except for what you're willing to spend, and when you get there and run out, see if your palms get sweaty or your heart beats faster just thinking about taking out more money to use for your gambling 'session.' If you actually think about trying to find a way to get more money, you're likely on the road to addiction.

But, if you're like me, and you recognize the signs and know how to combat them, it can be a fun experience. If I lose $20, well that can't even get movie theater tickets for 2 these days, or a dinner, or gas to fill my tank (grr) so it's really no loss. But be a buddy, and watch your friends. There's nothing worse that I know of than a healthy adult wearing diapers because they don't want to leave a slot machine that was giving out squat in the first place.

Actually, yes, I have. We always had poker parties with my parents, my dad's coworkers, and their kids, and played once or twice a month. I'll even admit it, I was so little when I started playing that if I lost I cried. Then they took pity on me and gave me money :greedy:

DG, you actually from detroit, or from bloomfield hills like the rest of us that claim detroit?

I play in semi regular poker games with friends, and maybe for someone's birthday we'll head to a casino on occasion, but never gamble more than $50 or so. I go a little nuts when I go to vegas, but that's what you're there for.

Actually, I'm Downriver, just a hop from downtown. It's not Bloomfield Hills by any means, but it's not Del Ray or Cass Corridor either. :whistling

i usually plan about $100 a day in vegas for gambling.
No casino allows pictures (none in vegas or in New Orleans) becuase they are afraid you might be casing the place for weak spots in security, etc etc.
To all the virgins, Thanks for nothing
