You probably have "hide extensions for known filetypes" enabled. Go to any explorer (not internet explorer) window and click Tools -> Folder options then the View tab. Scroll down and untick "Hide extensions for known filetypes" (You may also want to tick "show hidden files & folders while you're there").

Now go find the file, if it's now called chatbg.bm2.bmp then rename it to chatbg.bm2.

i hate windows hiding extensions, about 3 months ago when i didn't know that you could show them i would install an FTP explorer type program and change them from there

if someone does not know how to change a bm2 file into a bmp, they should not start messing into "other stuff"
