advertised about twice every commercial break on espn for the past two months, played probably 9 times last night, it was still absolutely terrible. stuff like this really makes me wonder about marketing execs in tv. sure, having a drama about poker could be successful, but not if its totally awful. i watched the entire episode, god knows why, and it never got any better.

Damn shame. I hoped someone had finally captured the feel of the poker world and made a decent show out of it.

Yea, but Rounders was far less cheezy. Then again, I have yet to see a full episode. I'm just going by what little I've seen: Two different casino assault scenes, the dialogue ("If we're gonna hurt him in a cash game, it's time to get outta the kiddie pool and start makin some moves"), and....

            "Raise."

"You haven't even looked at your cards."

"I didn't have to. I just looked at you when you looked at yours."

            "Uh...fold."

However, that scene kinda reminded me of when Doyle went all-in while in the small blind without looking at his cards during the 2004 Tournament of Champions. Of course, he was trying to steal the blinds and wound up getting picked off by Howard Lederer...so the situation was totally different, but in principle, the move is the same. Just totally embellished to seem like a brilliant play.
