Gaming in your sleep

I have had several dreams about computer games. Dreams about Diaspora, Continuum, Diablo, Freelancer. What happens is if I play them so much in a day I continue to play in my sleep. The fear of dying, losing all the credits/whatever is still there, there is still some control over the game in my sleep, dreams always follow game physics. Sometimes I wake up in the morning expecting myself to have whatever I earned in my dream, be it a new ship, credits/whatever, and I am kinda surprised not to.

So i'm wondering, how many other people have these dreams. And if it's possible for me to have a dream which conforms with game physics, would it be possible to play games using your dream instead of your keyboard/mouse. I've heard of computers being controlled using brain activity, I wonder if that applies to dreams too.

Definitely. Whenever a Grand Theft Auto game comes out, I go into insomnia mode and stay up playing waaaaaaay longer than I should. Then as I'm drifting off to sleep, I keep seeing images from the game.

BTW, it's not just limited to that one game, because whenever I over-play any game at all, as I'm trying to get to sleep I keep seeing these patterns from the game in my lucid state.

Sometimes I actually do have actual dreams about whatever I'm playing, but it's more like a "thematic influence" rather than a straight up dream where I'm embedded in that game world. Like I'll be doing something in a regular environment, but then all of a sudden I'll be in an area from the game, then I'll switch back again. Or the movements of those around me might resemble the character movements from a game.

Sometimes if I play a game that is similar to any real life things such as buildings, cars, or even people. I might daydream it in as what it would look like in a game. I only recall that once. The sleeping thing I probaly did it once and that was Quake Team Fortress.

I've dreamt I was playing Counter Strike, as in, I was actually IN the game. Although it was NOTHING like Counter-Strike at all, it just was Counter-Strike cause my mind said so.

I've dreamt about SS countless times, and I remember once when I was ill I kept thinking the illness was caused by a Trebuchet from Age of Empires 2.

Dreams about Diaspora

hah, nice. havent dreamt about diaspora, but i have about continuum. i was a terr in a league match and the map was really messed up and we should have won but the game kept going.

funny though, last night i think i had a dream where i was getting blown up repeatedly. i cant remember it too well.
