Hmm you know like me that the 2400+ and 2600+ was realesed in August.. WTF they have started to appear in the market this week (only the 2400+) why?? BECAUSE AMD HAD SOME PROBLEM WITH THEIR PRODUCTION.. dont tell me they are the best.. omg.. yes they are when the Athlon XP started to appear.. but now.. their speed decreased but the speed of Intel in their research and innovation is still same : fast and good.. AMD are still at 0.13 micron.. and Intel will soon change their product for 0.09 micron. What is the L2 Cache of an Athlon XP ? 256k! and for P4 ? 512k!! The bus ? 333 Mhz and for P4 ? 533 Mhz !! Finally.. how many intructions are in the P4.. ? Probably 2x more than the little poor Athlon XP

Yes i was for AMD 6 month ago.. now they really suck because they can't increased their speed of production and innovation against his main rival : INTEL

    INTEL 4 LIFE.
Intel's really good at putting out numbers that are supposed to make a difference. Problem is most of the numbers you just listed have little to no effect whatsoever on performance. I haven't manufactured many CPU's, but the instruction set for one thing is easy to pickup on. Twice the instruction set means twice the complexity, and when it comes to CPU instructions that may not be a particularly good thing. (the whole cisc vs. risc debate)

Either way, both companies are more than capable of spreading the propeganda, spec, benchmarks, etc. Bottom line is that they both perform practically the same. One just costs less. That's how I made my call a year and a half ago when I went AMD, no complaints whatsoever. =]

i have a geforce 4 64 meg and a sblaster 5.1 gamer sitting here, thats why i didnt add one in
I dont play this game anymore.

First.. try to get a real Surround Sound with an AC-97.. can you have 6 channel for your sound at the same time with an AC-97.. not really.. you just need to know that.. An ON-BOARD is always more cheaper than a real card..

I'm strictly AMD myself because they're way cheaper and the difference in preformance has always been negligible.
Well.. Ask any expert about the best motherboard company and we will probably say ASUS.. Maybe for you it doesn't matter.. for me.. no i'm not a normal user.. AMD are cheaper yes and now.. the difference in performance is very big.. i'm talking about a P4 2.8 Ghz VS 2600+

yes.. one year ago.. AMD was very good.. price/quality but now.. you can buy a P4 2.6Ghz at the same price of a 2600+ and the P4 is really better.. Just look at http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/02q3/020826/index.html and just shut up joke.. well look and see

here is where the 2600+ is better than a P4 2.8Ghz
            http://www17.tomshardware.com/cpu/02...4_2800-09.html

So here is the conclusion on tomshardware
            Conclusion: Change In Power

AMD's triumph took us all by surprise, and it didn't last long. In any case, the Athlon XP 2600+ could outperform the Intel P4/2533 in numerous benchmark tests. Now, Intel sends its P4/2800 into the fray. In this situation, the AMD processor takes the lead in only one of the benchmark disciplines, namely, 3D rendering under Cinema 4D XL R7. In all other categories with different applications, the P4 tops the Athlon XP.

Once again, Intel wages war on AMD, fighting to attain the fastest desktop CPU. AMD is sure to launch the Athlon XP 2800+ soon (in October at the latest), so that it will be able to keep close on the heels of its arch-rival. Intel has also made preparations of its own, with the P4/3066 up its sleeve.

At any rate, the real winner is the ambitious end user, who will be able to choose between the P4/3066 and the Athlon XP 3000+ by the time Christmas rolls around. Both the successor to the P4 and the AMD Hammer won't be available until next year.

            -------------------------------------

The problem is.. when AMD will launch the 2800+.. they wont be able to launch another cpu.. because the core used is at his end.. so they need to make another core.. so we will probably wait 3-4 month again for their new CPU after the 2800+.. but Intel have no problem with that

SO now stop thinking AMD is the best.. yes they were.. now they aren't and the price is the same for 2.6Ghz P4 and 2600+ ...

                - Every so called "expert" will say some completely different things, Asus produces fine Mobo's ofcourse, but by no means better than most other companies and certainly not the best.
For home office pc's asus offers good quality for a fair pricethat's about it.

                - AMD XP CPU's are far cheaper than P4 CPU's unless you don't think 100$ + is a lot of money.

I didn't think one was faster, I thought one was cheaper and they performed so close to the same that it never will matter. =] I was unaware of the prices being the same?
