www.animesuki.com is great as someone mentioned... I also post at the Anime Reactor forums (google it!). They have a pretty extensive list of recommended shows there for newbies, and shows of all genres. Or alternately keep reading my blog!

The first Kenshin OVA was absolutely amazing, Miku is right. You don't have to had watched Kenshin to watch it as it's a prequel.

The first episode of Air didn't seem interesting to me at all aside from the animation. Still i'm collecting it all, and I'll just do a 2-3 day marathon once all 12 eps are out. That's what I mean by waiting for subs
