Diablo 2 has many attributes of an RPG game. But first, let me define RPG.
RPG stands for, "Roll Playing Game" in which you play roles. Simple as that eh? In RPG, you do certain things. You battle enemies. Depending on the game, you battle them in many different ways. FF series has you battle them in it's own battle mode. Games like Secret of Mana has you battling just like in Diablo 2. Secret of Mana is an RPG and is much like Diablo 2 where both are Action type RPGs. Action RPGs are usually where you are not thrown into a battle mode like FF series but you are there and the enemy appears before you. If you choose to attack it, you will just approach it and strike with your weapon. You use spells and attacks and use healing on yourself to stay alive, much like any other RPG. There's also a storyline you follow in Diablo 2 in which you are trying to hunt down Diablo and his siblings. If I wasn't mistaken or my irony detector hasn't broken, Diablo 2 is very much an RPG. Don't you think. I must be wrong. =)Jesus Christ on a pogo stick

I fight enemies in halflife too, there's a storyline in halflife, I can pick up healthkits and heal myself, I can choose attacks, does all of these make it an RPG? Hell yeah we should call Half-life an RPG too, I mean you play the roll of Gordon Freeman, a ROLE playing game!
okay sure. lets call halflife the First-Person shoot-em-up Action RPG! YAY.

Warcraft 3 Review
Warcraft 3 - The Reign of Chaos
by Blizzard Software
I believe that WC3 is a Real Time Strategy with RPG elements fixed into it. Your hero unit levels up and gains items to make himself stronger. So, this is why there is a review in here about Warcraft 3. Just getting that point across.
Blizzard has made 3 of the most noteworthy franchises in the PC Gaming World. Starcraft, Diablo, and Warcraft. This game is the third installment of the Warcraft series. This game takes place a bit after the final Warcraft 2 Expansion. The story revolves around 4 playable races and 1 non-playable race. They are Humans, Orcs, The Undead, and Night Elves. The non-playable race is the Burning Legion. The story is great and very well told through the great in-game cinemas. And the FMVs in between the chapters in the campaign are even better! I loved watching them, they were amazing.
The gameplay is going to throw any skilled Warcraft 2 player (or Starcraft players too) for a loop, because the combat in both Single Player and Multiplayer is hero based. This means that you have to build up a hero unit and use him/her and a party of only a few other support units to accompany the hero. This means that you can't just build up a massive army of upgraded footmen and expect to overrun a base using sheer numbers. This is also discouraged by the game itself by making you pay an upkeep tax for having too many people in play on your team.
You can also buy items for your hero(s) by picking them up after killing non-player animals (creeps) or buying them at a Goblin Merchant Hut. You can also purchase mercinaries for missions and certain Multiplayer maps.
This game mechanics take a bit of time for getting used to, but after some practice and going through the game's campagin mode you will get the hang of it sooner or later.
The Multiplayer Experience is better after Blizzard redid Battle.Net so you can find random people based on a ranking system to fight with. You can do random 1v1 battles and 2v2 battles all based on skill rankings. The game is also great when it comes to the Use Map Settings games. You can play old favorites like Turret Defense and Golem Madness or new ones like Gladiators and the Improved version of Starship Troopers (Marines and Hydralisks in Warcraft 3 Style graphics!!!!!!!!!). The multiplayer is amazing as usual.
Overall, I loved Warcraft 2, and I think Warcraft 3 is even better. The extra units and races give this game a much needed expansion to the Warcraft Universe. I didn't like the hero based combat in this game for a while, but after getting used to it, it seems to be getting more and more logical of an idea. Warcraft 3 had a great story and fun extras at the end too! The only problem is that I want Starcraft 2 instead!!
Gameplay 4/5 *the battle system was kind of a pain at first*
Graphics 5/5 *amazing FMV movies, and good in game cinemas*
Control 5/5 *controling the units was fine. good pathfinding*
Characters 3/5 *they were alright*
Storyline 5/5 *I loved the story to this. I'm a sucker for a good story*
Multiplayer 5/5 *Battle.Net is improved for this! It's great*
Sound 4/5 *the unit sounds were cool*
Overall 4/5 *I would of liked the old gameplay style better, but I got used to it eventually and the story and multiplayer more than makes up for the gameplay problems that I had.*DELETED

You guys forgot Lunar and Phantasy Star ..... Need I to say more?
And about Divine Divinity, a friend is playing that and he said it's quite good.
If you are a RPG fan, you could try it out, else just steer away.Light is faster than sound. That is why people look bright, until you hear them.

So basically any fighting game where you level up, can buy weapons, you have a storyline (doesn't that include most games?), can use healthpotions/kits of wtf there is in the game, can use items and there are multiple roles to play, can be called an RPG?Jesus Christ on a pogo stick
