And about the rogues.. Dagger Rogue or Mace/Sword Rogue?

My friend is a Mace/Sword Rogue - he tries to avoid using Daggers.

It's preference really. Usually the idea is to be a sword/mace rogue until you hit 60 then switch to daggers. One reason for this, is it's easier to grind with swords/maces, it's non-positional and more efficient going from mob to mob. Another reason being that they're not a lot of good daggers to be found at lower levels, while there is plenty of swords to pick from. Also at lower levels you don't really have enough talent points to throw around to get the full benefit of daggers. I'd say most Rogues stay sword rogues even at level 60 simply because it's a much easier play style that doesn't rely on positioning, basically just stand infront of the mob and spam sinister strike.

I find though that a well played dagger rogue at level 60 can really outmatch a sword rogue damage-wise. In the high end instances once you're 60 you'll be able to find some nice daggers. I switched back to daggers once I hit 60 and got my heartseeker and bonescraper daggers and don't plan on going back. It's nice seeing 800+ dmg backstabs and 1100+ dmg ambushes consistantly. In instances I just sit behind the mob spamming backstab without having to worry about positioning since the tank is holding aggro. But like I said, its all preference, but I believe in end game daggers have the potential to be superior to swords.

    • There are some blue and purple maces that just look ridiculous being used by a rogue.

I'm pretty much against that whole weapon swapping for various reasons. For one you'll never need to use that in instances because with a backstab dagger build you can just lay backstabs behind the mob the entire time without worrying about positioning as much.

Secondly I don't know how people with weapon swaps would use their talent points. Depending if you go swords or daggers you'd have to invest your talent points in those specific tree's that will improve your dagger or sword build. So either they are going to have a very nice dagger build, a very nice sword build, or just a gimped version of the both of them combined if they are trying to get the best of both worlds. They are basically picking up some dagger talents when they could of been using those points to make their sword/mace build more viable since thats what you said they mainly use.

Most importantly though, a good dagger rogue doesn't have a hard time at all positioning himself for backstabs when in combat, so he has no need to switch to swords. Rogues have so many tools to work with where they can pretty much consistantly get behind their opponent to land backstabs, you don't even really need to stun your target to get in position for backstabs either, you can just circle strafe or run through your opponent or do some 180 jump through them to land it. Even easier just put crippling poison on one of your blades and its free backstabs right there. So I just think of weapon swappers as players that pretty much haven't practiced daggers enough to get the hang of it, therefore they need to rely on switching to swords during combat because they have a hard time positioning themselves for backstabs consistantly. Or they are just too lazy. But to each his own.

        • My main's a warrior, but I definitely use a weapon swap macro during fights--I'd be retarded not to have one for high-level instances where I may need to tank and deal damage in the same battle.

Music and medicine, I'm living in a place where they overlap.

I was kinda speaking from a Rogue perspective, I can't say much about a warr since i've never played one.

BTW, that Blackhand Doomsaw hurts like hell.

Uhm, is this easy to get into? I got Everquest but everyone was just so much higher than me so I stopped playing after the free trial ran out.

                  • There will be a lot of people higher than you, but unless you're on Lightning's Blade where the Alliance make daily 'noob trap' runs, you should be able to get in the groove of things, and find your niche of people taht level at the same speed as you.

Actually Lightning's Blade isn't that bad, as long as you don't attack the higher levels

                    • Demons, I'm relatively sure your a lvl 60 ud rogue. You build 21/8/22?

I'm assuming that since you use daggers, what do you think of that build compared with 21/2/28 using sword/dagger offhand?

Actually my friends decided to go alliance, so I went with them.. made a NE Rogue, my alt is an undead priest though. Nah, my build isn't a 21/8/22, im not really a fan of relying on timed abilities with preperation, I use a 30/8/13 build with Seal Fate. As for your 21/2/28 build, im assuming you keep the sword in your main hand correct? I'd say that's one of the better sword builds you can have, thats a sword build with versatility. The common swords builds are probably 21/30/0, 30/21/0, 21/2/28. I find it much tougher to get an opening attack on another rogue if you don't have Mod5, so if you decide to go down the Sub tree, always take Mod over Camo. But yeah, thats a good build.

If you are a warlock, can you eventually summon an Infernal?

                            • Yeah, from the screenshots, it looks like GW's graphics are actually better than WoW's.. but maybe that's just because everything in GW is all bloomed and glowy 'n crap.

It's because all the screenshots in GW are done at max rez with anti aliasing, full bloom, really zoomed in, etc etc etc, settings you'd never actually _play_ with. For like the billionth time WoW has EQ level graphics, but it makes up for it with miles of style.
