No threads should be closed unless they turn into a massive flame fest, theres an unusual amount of racism or something to that degree in it or if it's spam, which is just like 2 words per reply. that thread did have value.
I'd really like to hear your explaination on that. How does a thread full of random and huge pictures not qualify as spam, and how is it a thread of value?
All people were going to do is continue to spam it with offsite images.
If you're going to post stupid shit, at least put it in Useless Crap. If it's really really fucking useless in the wrong forum I'll just close it. If it encourages people to be an idiot I'll probably close it too. When we changed the forum rules, the main intent was to make the forums more serious and have less idiots encouraging others to be stupid. Unfortunately, a lot of the things we planned didn't ever really come to fruitation, but we'll still try to at least make the quality of the boards a bit higher than it usually is.
Ok, so when did it become better to have a serious forum rather than a funny one?

I laughed at some of those pics, giving that thread more value then most of the useless crap threads.

I think that the only thing this thread has taught me is that many people here have rather low standards as to what they consider funny and entertaining.
I mean, if the pictures at least had some sort of context or an overall theme then I would understand it staying up, but if it's just a random collection of images, then that's just spam. Entertaining or not, it's still just spam.
When wadi/zeus decided it. I can't say I disagree with them.
A forum is where ppl gather to have some fun and discuss stuff.. So why can't the ppl actually be in when it comes to decisions like this?
I've been noticing that I've never seen so many closed threads around as it is now, is that a indicator that the ppl visiting this forum and keeping it alive wants it to be funny? Or is it a indicator that ppl are just stupid/retarded/unserious?

I'm not here to bash Stab as a mod. I've seen far worse during my adventures across the internets. I accept that his sense of humor seems to be dried out like a prune.
But to move/close the parody thread and not the original, at least in this case, was a mistake. Blame it on human error, or blame it on the fact that he's entertained by a flamefest like the original turned out to be. Either way, give me the parody thread over the original. Cheap laughs beat "U CAN'T BEAT US WE ARE DICE RAHAHAHHHHH" any day of the week, twice on Sunday.

The problem with this TK is:
Number A) Your sense of humor isn't the end all definition of what is funny or entertaining. So doesn't necessarily determine low standards, as much as what you like or don't like.
Letter 2) If it is entertaining, it ceases to become spam by definition. You see, it doesn't need a context or overall theme. It can by the very nature of the place we're posting, build to form its own theme and context. Order out of Nothingness, as it were
Number C) A collection of images, regularly replied to, obviously being enjoyed by as many people who are posting in it, even if completely random, is not harming anyone. It becomes a topic just like any other around here. Instead of "Post here if you want to discuss some Canadian murder trial" it's "Post here to tack on photos and let's see where it ends up" Different Tastes. Different Tastes.

This is ludicrous to the point of being Asinine. Why is it in the rules? Why not disable posting inline images? Most likely because posters would proceed to throw a combined hissy fit / temper tantrum. I hotlink pictures of my photoshops to my own personal webspace. Space that I pay for, and if Zeus (as much as I like the guy) or you don't like it, well then I suppose no more photoshops from me. But I find the notion of warning for hotlinking images decidedly retarded considering this is a forum for a video game, not a research and development site of the cultural swayings of the average dung beetle during mating season.
I can be entertained by the pictures of women in various stages of nakedness with links to places promising more that arrive in my mailbox, but that doesn't mean that it's not spam.

You misunderstood, but it's my fault. I didn't mean that you can't link ANY pictures; you can post pictures as long as they aren't leeched from someone's bandwidth. From the rules:
5. When posting pics, keep the screen and file size reasonable.
6. Do not leech bandwidth. If we get complaint emails we’re sending them on to you.
The reasons for this are that for one thing, most people get pretty mad if someone takes a big picture from their server and posts it everywhere, effectively stealing their bandwidth (which they must pay for) and secondly because many places like SomethingAwful will change your linked picture to something like a really disgusting porn picture if you hotlink from their server. An example from this board would be when someone posted a picture of Kim on this board, and then Kim changed the picture on his server to a porn picture.
I can be entertained by the pictures of women in various stages of nakedness with links to places promising more that arrive in my mailbox, but that doesn't mean that it's not spam.
good point, but at least on these forums you can decide whether to view it or not. but then again you could say the same about spam emails..
i'm just trying to say that the topic was in Useless Crap, and if some people find it funny, without it breaking the rules, i don't see why it had to be closed.
edit: ok, i just found out what leeching does/means
