  • True Love: What is it?

Through life many of you undoubtedly may have felt you were in love with someone.. But what is the true meaning of love. I don't want someone to go look it up in a dictionary, that is not the true meaning of love.. Put your thoughts about Love in this topic, and please try to be mature about it, cause i realize the average population is 16 year olds. But seriously, put down what you think about love. Thanks.

16 year olds who act 3 (like what i'm doing). Anyways, asking the meaning of true love is sort of like asking about the meaning of life. Many believe true love to be the reuniting of two halved souls; however, i have seen in an article in the newspaper a book about a woman who goes on 100-some dates all over the world and genuinely falls in love with 2 men. If you're that interested, i suggest you look it up. I believe the title is 89 dates or 101 dates or whatever the number is. Good luck, and be careful, you don't want to be on the recieving end of a broken heart.
    boo...

Love is caring more for the well being and happiness of someone else than yourself.

I've actually been contemplating the right of anyone to impose themselves on others, whether it be in a relationship or religious zealots trying to gain members or what have you.

Love, in my opinion, is like finding yourself in someone else. Only if you're fucked up in the head (self-hatred) would you not be able to find a soulmate that is just like you in another body. When you find that person it's as though you're so comfortable when spending time together it's almost as if you were alone with yourself. That's love.

This going to sound stupid, but when I was like.. I dunno 12, we had to do an assignment on what we thought love was.

I wrote something to the effect of "love is like waking up on Christmas morning to find exactly what you wanted under the tree. It was the one thing you always hoped for, either for a short time or all of your life. And just like a present, it can last for a long time or just a short while. To keep it intact you must work to keep it going and not abandon it when something else comes along or when it doesn't work right for a while. Love is having what you want in who you want, and if you both love each other enough, want each other enough and respect each other enough, you will have it for a long time."

"There are those who said this day would never come. What have they to say now?"
                .Halo.

Y'know... if you were any stupider, I swear death by laughter would be a real medical occurance.

Love is farting loudly near each other and not apologising.

love is a prison you do not want to leave, it is the blue pill. love is a truck ramming you with full speed, your life will change to the better. it is the most destructive force ever created and you will love to get wasted by it.

"Love is an irresistable desire to be irresistably desired."
                      -- Robert Frost

I think that says almost everything there is to say about love...
The other is besides wanting to be desired in a fervent way is to also want to contribute to someone's happyness and well being in a passionate way.

A kiss is a rosy dot over the 'i' of loving.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not selfseeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
                          - 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is Love.
                          - 1 John 4:8

You can't have the ultimate without the sacred. You can't have the sacred without the divine. And you can't have the divine without God. And God is love.

Think about it this way - love (not materialistic love) can NOT be manufactured. And yet it exists between two people - why? Where do we get 'love' and why is it seemingly endless, abundant, and always so able and willing to give and receive it? Using the above argument, since God is love, then love is ultimate, sacred, and divine. Love, like all things, is a gift from God, because He made us in His image.

Think about how we all came into this world - we didn't just "came to be" the person that we are now. We all came in to this world crying, SCREAMING, for love and attention and somehow, somewhere along the way of worldly views, possessions, and ideals, we allow that cry within us to die down to a whimper when all we really ever wanted - what God made us to have ever wanted - is to be loved, to be cared for, and to be understood. And this great longing that we all have as humans can only be fulfilled, not by tangible items, but something intangible. Something so pure and big and divine.

Most of us will go through living never realizing that love is the cure and the sickness. The alpha and the omega. The one thing that existed before life did.

Ask Galleleo. We were once talking about that on his chat, but he was the only one being serious and we were all joking around with it. So he got mad at us and left because we couldn't carry on an intelligent conversation. So here you go Gally, it's your time to shine
