Green Day wasn't always a sell out band, they just evolved into one. Just like Blink 182, and New Found Glory (though I hate to admit it.)

To compare NoFx and Greenday is about as logical as comparing night and day. They're on opposite sides of the punk spectrum, and to say they are in any way similar is mental suicide.

On a side note, if you really like punk rock, listent to some OpIvy or Bouncing Souls

I like Anti-Flag. That's some good punk. Also, Voodoo Glow Skulls. Op. Ivy, and Tsunami Bomb are good too. I also like the Suicide Machines, although they're a lil bit more Ska-Punk. (If you dont think they're punk, listen to "Your Silence") Still good though.

rofl i've been wandering around singing that all day, I consider bands like misfits (old misfits), rancid (old rancid), choking victim, A-F, The Clash, The Vandals, The Circle Jerks, Black Flag, Bad Brains, The Exploited, Lars Fredrickson and The Bastards and Bad Religion to be apart of the punk genre (tons more just not going to list off every band). The closeted Green Day ever came to punk was pop punk.

NOFX got a bad rep for starting the anti-bush punk movement with their cd war on errorism and their fan base grew increasingly, this is not NOFX's fault a million un-educated kids that call themselves punk that run around in malls started following this band exclusively and saying this is what punk is. NOFX is a great band and I will buy their cds when they come out because I know I'm not getting taken but their name sure has been tarnished and some people are against them solely because it seemed like punk might go mainstream again for a short while and this was heavily thanks to NOFX. Even Anti-Flag's new cd kinda sucked balls....

I love both those bands but Operation Ivy is ska-punk and Bouncing Souls isn't punk.

Exactly. Why does "selling lots of records" mean "That band nowdays suck, back when nobody bought their records they were the greatest band ever".

What would you consider Bouncing Souls? OpIvy has serious punk roots. VooDoo Glow Skulls is ska Squeezer (not saying they aren't good, I went to see them and Streetlight Manifesto a couple weeks ago.)

It's not like NoFx just made Errorism and called it a day, they were also HIGHLY, HIGHLY involved with punkvoter.com, etc.
