Godspeed You Black Emperor is a good example for sad songs
Kingston Wall - Istwan (i can send it to you through e-mail if you want me to, it is a really wonderful song), it's, uh, you can't call it happy or sad, it's hard to say, just fantastic!
Mozart's "Fantasia" in D Minor is a sad classical work, just like the famous Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven(both are just a piano solo i think)

The instrumental version of Like A Drug from Volumes 5 & 6 of the Desert Sessions is great.
