My grandfather was. All I know about his past is that he left the country and came to America with my grandmother after he was "drafted" into the Nazi Army.

My grandparent's never talked about their past. Well, almost never. If you got him mad enough, he would splurt out some stuff in German. Some things were repeated by my mother, other times I got a stern look not to push matters.

For all I know, I have lots of family in Germany and Poland. Sadly, my grandparents took their family secrets to the grave.

My mother has tried to get info about her relatives. Only one Aunt (of hers) living in America and she won't say a word. All my mother wants is to know her heritage, know if she has family elsewhere. It does hurt to see her try and fail, time and time again. Makes me wonder, though...

First of all, I got so tired of the "chimney watch" they had for like 158 days straight, on every single fucking TV channel, "nope, that looks like black smoke...wait, it's hard to tell, it could be white smoke...or black smoke..." Aarrgh.
