people who like my chemical romance. you see, i liked this band 1-2 years ago. now, they play on trl and mtv, and all the little poser kids love them in my school.

I hate people who are like, "Yeah I hate MTV and all those shitty rock bands that are on it."

I mean sure, there are some PRETTY SHITTY bands on there, but still, saying bands are automatically bad because they are on MTV or VH1 is poppycock.

I hate MTV because it's all angsty teen shows like Ashlee Simpson and the Real World Road Rulezzzz XTRM challenge 4000; the only actual music on Music Television is the stuff you here in the background to fit the mood of what's happening in the show.

MTV sold out a long long time ago.

You're missing the point. How much music is actually on MTV? About an hour's worth out of a 24-hour day. The rest is just teen drama shows. Pretty sad.

I hate when you ask people "what kind of music do you like?" and they respond "oh I like everything, except rap and country." and then they seem to be proud of the fact that they have an eclectic taste in music.

What they are really saying is, "I don't have enough taste in music to actually form an opinion, so I'll just listen to whatever everyone else does"

And no I'm not bashing people who like mainstream rock over indie stuff, my problem is with people who never listen to anything except mainstream rock and think that means that they like "everything".

im not sure, but i think i sometimes say that when people ask me what music i like (except i also include emo). i have some rap (puff daddy's no way out, jurassic5, a little eminem) and some country (i really like wynona and some mary chapin carpenter) but as most people know rap and country, that is the stuff i dont want to hear, in all honesty. i am sure my taste is pretty eclectic though.. i have things from rock to classical to musicals, and from old to new.

i guess what i mean is that while i say i dont like rap or country, i am kind of lying because i really mean that i dont like any of the stuff that most people are into from the two genres, and i am not really expecting to relate to anyone about them. in that case i guess i will stop saying i dont like them.

Something I've been noticing lately is people using an apostrophe in words like "went" (I saw it spelt "wen't" in a thread last week). I don't know how that started but I've seen it a couple of times too often for it to be a simple typo (not to mention the fact that the closest key in "went" to the apostrophe is "n").

Here's another one.

Some people like jazz, others are into metal,others hiphop, rap, modern rock, trance, classic rock, pop... very few people are actually into "everything" even though 90% of college kids will claim "oh I like everything." Sure you could maybe find 1 song from every various genre that you kinda like, but come on now, everyone likes some stuff more than other stuff. If anyone is going to be a college freshman next year, ask your roommate "what kind of music are you into" and if he's a generic white kid I bet he responds with "oh I like everything <slight pause> well except country". And what will he actually listen to? Classic rock and modern chart toppers.

Unless I look at their CD collection and it includes Pig Destroyer - Prowler mixed in with Tania Rose - Beauty & emotion... cop-out response

ah yeah i can see what you're saying, but that's never been something i have been too annoyed by.

i'm more offended when i meet someone and i find out they "are a big 311 (for example) fan" and i'll say "oh that's awesome, which album or songs are you most into?" and they'll say "well i really love amber and love song..."
