  • OMFG, it was his job, no ones fault

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politi...ge/4507485.stm

i couldnt believe this when i heard it this morning on the news, yes its sad, but when you join a section of the armed forces you might have the slightest incling that you could go to war.
when you become a soldier or join the millitary you will expect to come under fire or face some danger in the process, you cant blame the Prime minister/ President of your country because a family member gets killed, its just ignorant. Look at the people who have been killed in Northern Ireland same situation but no one has gone this far.

I dont know if this is the same view of people in Britain or even in the US but post your opinions whether she is right or not please.

Except when you take into account that he followed Bush into an unjustified and quite possibly an illegal war, then yeah, they died wrongfully.

I think the bane of contention was the fact he got killed because he was in an army

A war is a war, be it just or not, you serve your Country and its possible that you die in the process.

Sure its not nice to lose a loved one but its the individual's decision to join the Armed Forces.

You couldn't believe it scumbag? As a rule, people who've just had their son blown up don't give objective opinions. Yes they were making a political point and why not if they have one to make. The choice to join the army was their son's not their's, and you're not getting his opinions as he's dead.

Anyway, Blair's been looking very uptight over the last couple of days. I'm expecting him to go mental on camera by thursday. You can almost see him twitch when Iraq is mentioned.

I hope those people can force a proper inquiry as I still don't know why we went to war. Well I do, but still I'd like to see someone admit it

The blame game is played by mostly everyone, I guess it makes them feel more comfortable.

exactly, he joined the army of his own accord, no one knows what will happen when they get into combat it just turned out badly in this case, theres no point in blaming Blair for the death, blame the Iraqi's, they killled him not Tony!

Look, not to be captain asshole, but I'm sure his wife was fine with the war when he was bringing home a steady paycheck. Dying is one of the risks of having a military job. If you can't deal with it, work somewhere else.

At least I know that the UK media is rivalling the US media with stupidest stories ever written (see Jennifer Wilbanks's story).

If you send an army into an unjust or illegal war, then where exactly should the buck stop?

The first priority would be to have the decision made on whether the war was justified or not. But who is to do that? I'm not saying this family necessarily deserves compensation. But I do understand their anger.

It's not about "If you join the military you might see combat and die."
It's more about "Did you do the right thing with this war, that you sent my son to fight and die in?"

At least that's my take on it.

Just to play the devil's advocate, I'd like to hear what you consider a "justified" war and what doesn't constitute one.

There is no such thing as a truely just war. There are 2 sides to every argument. However sometimes to do what is in best interests, war is what it comes to.

I'm sure you would have stopped Hitler.

I was on the bus today and saw the headling on the Metro, 'We will take Blair to court' or something similiar. Yeah, as if that's really going to happen. While I respect the fact that she's just lost a child ans is seeking to blame anything, as all humans do, I think the court business goes into the realms of needing a slap to get back into reality.

Are you fucking kidding me? Some bitch whose husband died thinks she's the fucking general of the war or knows anything about it? "Shouldn't have send those troops in." She's a real pro at war, Chamberlain taught her himself. Why is this even in the news? Has there not been enough soccer riots lately? The season just ended recently. I'd put money money on it. The nonsense of the news, especially from other countries is a lot more entertaining when it's their views on us, especially since they dont fucking know a damn thing. I guess maybe you guys needed some attention to yourselves but there's gotta be something at least half as retarded as this to be putting on the news.
