fuck that. AP is a waste of time- i was supposed to have 15 credits transfer to my college, and i did--as electives. so i still have to take all the same classes and all i get is a few extra credits laying around collecting dust. Also, i dont understand why people stress out about standardized tests. Once you're taking it, theres nothing you can do, you either know it or you dont so why worry. Then again, i fell asleep during the math portion of my ACT, so maybe i'm a little too laid back.
Being a college senior I'd have to say it's worth it. I came into college with 30 credits, meaning I had sophomore standing, and therefore could have cut out a year of school. I could have graduated this past semester (I actually wish I had) but I got to fuck around and am now extending my stay in college for at least another semester. I'll probably extend it another two and graduate "on time" (4 years) so I have a little more time to figure out what the fuck I'm going to do with my life (and drink some more).
I came in with like 39 credits which was good for Sophomore standing. Since I'm in the ME program I can't really graduate earlier but it was good for being higher up the totem pole for course selection.
I've got 20 credits for college right now, but I'm still a junior in highschool. By the time I'm actually in college I'll probably have roughly 50, plus whatever I get from my AP class at my highschool.

I got a 5 on my AP English exam back in junior year of highschool.
I think I only got a C in the class though, which made the situation all the more "lol".
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.
If you're in America, every college that I have encountered (applied to, heard about, etc.) caps you at 30 credits from high school work (AP, I.B.) but sometimes that doesn't include dual enrollment - that totally depends on what junior college you took your classes at and whether your new college accepts the transfer credits.
It can be somewhat harmful, Panda. If you have 30 AP or IB credits and then try to take another 30 dual enrollment then you'll automatically be taking upper level courses that are significantly more difficult than high school and 1000-2000 level college courses. Coupled with the fact that most kids fuck off their freshman year, I would be wary of trying to get so many credits just because at some point it will hurt you in GPA. Plus, why would you want to graduate college in less than 4 years? They're going to force you out if you're done (well maybe it's different for others but I'm on 100% scholarship).
I'm not really sure what my credit was coming into college, but I do know that after struggling to get classes (it's really competitive), and taking summer classes, I'm "on track" to graduate on time. I'll probably wind up falling behind. We have 196 units required, with 16 being average per quarter (3 quarters/year + summer). I'm probably going to wind up graduating in over four years. So moral of the story is: without AP credits for things like English, psychology, history and economics, I'd be even more behind.
5:royst> i was junior athlete of the year in my school! then i got a girlfriend

I took the AP tests but never bothered to "use" my credits
but then again i just asked my gay fine arts teacher out on a date, it got me a good grade on the final i slept through... so i think college will be do-able for me
I got a 1 for AP english last year (that I didn't really care, and I didn't really learn anything from my Alzheimer teacher) and a 2 on AP US history (god I hate DBQ questions seriously, fuck you america)
I just took my AP Gov a couple of days ago and AP Lit today, which was pretty easy (god damn better teachers) I really am hoping for a good score now though, cause I don't want to take the Gordon Rule class (stupid bullshit class that only florida schools do in first year where you write like endless essays on bullshit)
