Summary: Annux is banned, order is restored.

Staff> why did we unban him again?

Annux> HAHAHA SO I CAN WEAR A BANNER I KNOW YOU'LL BAN ME FOR JUST SO I HAVE A REASON TO POST 30403 TIMES IN FORUMS AND RETURN TO CONTROVERSIAL-ELITE-REBELLIOUS-SUPER-BANNED-GUY

i feel SO sorry for you i mean jee you couldn't wear your looks-like-nazi-but-not-quite banner... that must really suck for you, i mean jee wearing that is your reason to live..... oh wait... that's getting banned/spamming forums

either way you deserve no compassion, shut the fuck up already, your whole effort is completely unentertaining, and therefore serves no purpose to the general public, and since staff will ignore you <AS YOU DESERVE TO BE BANNED> it serves no purpose to anyone

If I may suggest another highly offensive banner that needs to be regulated...

The Sickel and the Hammer of the Soviet Union stands for oppression, violence, and decades of totalatarianism.

Joseph Stalin killed more people than Hitler did, had concentration camps in Siberia much like Auchwtiz, and enforced brute spy agencies much like the Gestapo and the Tsar's Oprichniki before that.

To the Ukrainians, the Pols, and many of the scattered people in Eastern Europe, the Soviet Union was a symbol of destruction and animosity.

So, I ask you, why was Pearl Jam not banned for his red sickel and hammer in the past 6 months? How about Kommarit/Kemopetrol squadrons in their lifespans....why weren't they apprehended?

As a Ukrainian-American, I honestly hope this situation will soon be resolved. Remember, TWStaff is out to end racism in any form.

                  Dearest Yungsta

Yungsta, you live in Canada. Sometimes our friends to the south refer to us as "Soviet", however we both know we are given the same freedoms as anyone south of the boarder.

You said "Rules should reflect the laws of our society, and our society allows for the freedom of expression as long as it doesn't constitute harm." I happen to know that in Canada racism is against the law and possibly soon even 'gay bashing' will be illegal. What can we extract from that, I do not know!

                  How would you define harm?

Again, like I said before.. The staff, and the players, need clarity on this subject. How do we define harm, we can't even decide what a Swastika is (though staff seems to have made leaps in the direction of identifying a racist Swastika and a happy Swastika, unfortionatly, do I or the general population know the difference? Does that matter to anyone?).

Personally I support banning people with a Swastika banner. Arguing that point would take time and I am enjoying trying to stay on the fence so I get the illusion that I am right for once. Thanks!

Dearest Spider, how little you know

Rasicm is not banned in canada. I do not know where you got that notion, but in no way, mean, or form, is racism banned in canada. The only thing that is banned, is hate crimes, which is much different. Hate crimes constitute harming someone else based on racist beliefs. So Spider, you're still young, so i know youre misguided, next time, do not attack my argument or position without knowing 110% that you are correct, it greatly offends me.

You ask how can we decide what is harmfull and not. Seeing as i belong to the party which is supposedly offended by the banner (jews), i think that my position is more concrete than yours. So how do we decide what harm is? If i put on a red and black tiltled swastika and go arena to arena preaching how i hate jews, that is harm. If i wear a non tilted swastika and go arena to arena just playing and enjoying the game, that does not constitute HARM.

Just to make it clear, i find that people who do wear the banner in any shape or form are just seeking attention, but that does not excuse turning the TW Staff into the Gestapo.

This is clearly a case for selective enforcement. Much like partial credit on the second part of your Math Regents, some forms of the swastika are ok while others are not. If you can seriously tell me that a black and red, tilted, pixel, two dimensional object with 4 lines warrants severe punishment while a white, nontilted, pixel, two dimensional object with 4 lines can be proudly worn by the BanG Operator then I'll pay Volcs to do some soft-core bukkake films for your entertainment.

You ban all or you ban none.

Short and to the point: This thread makes sense. If you're going to ban the swastika, ban all banners that represent an organization/group/country that killed innocent people. It's all or nothing here....don't do it half-assed.

Also, what Annux says is true - I wore the USSR banner for a very long time. I expect to be banned immediately for being uncompassionate towards the families of the millions of innocents that were executed under Stalin's regime. If you happen to be one of these people and you play subspace, I would also like to apologize for ever blowing up your spaceship.

EDIT: TelCat's stupidity makes me want to decapitate kittens.

Perhaps the mis-conception is in trusting the other 99% of the population of the Earth/2d SpaceShip Game, to know the minute difference in something thats overtly associated with facism.
Sadly, not everyone is knowledgable about these things, but thats because half the time we're 'remembering so it never happens again' and the other half we're trying to make progress in the here and now.
At the very least Annux's satire and intelligent treatment on the subject as it pertains to this game, had sparked discussion and perhaps revolution of thought and the way staff conduct themselves.

The issue isn't about appeasing the minorities and special interests, in this instance. In this matter, its about appeasing the obvious majority, who, through ignorance, associate this image with terribly horrific things that did happen, and more importantly, are hinted at in suburban western civilization. The spirit of facism exists today, and people don't like to live in fear.

I'd suggest everyone just wear the swastika banner's Annux has linked to. A similar thing happened when I was in grade eleven and held a protest in my school against the "no hats" rule. Its a trivial issue, but thats what we were protesting.
The difference here: there are no principals and janitors to stand at the front door and take everyone's hat as they enter the building.
                              Few mods, many players.

                              Just a suggestion.
                              I'm a rocker. I rock out.

I agree with pretty much everything annux had to say but the four "L's" thing.

Just to add one more thing on to the list of bannable banners, can we see the US flag banned? It reminds me of the relocation of the American Indians.
