  • :::Mp3 Upload Server::: How tO?

Does anyone know of a reliable and reasonably quick mp3 upload storage site?

Actually here is a better question:

Which independant artist music sites do you think have the heaviest traffic? I am looking for sites where you can post your tracks so that people may listen to them.

Basically I am looking for the right way to store mp3s online so that I can link people directly to them.

Any suggestions will be considered. Thanks in advance!

      I'm 99% sure that's illegal if they're copyrighted.

EDIT: Not yours, exo--the idea on a whole.
Music and medicine, I'm living in a place where they overlap.

          www.mp3.com

Try that, if I remember correctly it lets you store your own mp3s and you section off some mp3s for free taster downloads (what you want) and the rest people will have to buy (money.)

Edit: I think she is talking about uploading her own self-created mp3s, not those of other artists.

If you wish to find a website where you can share your MP3s with other people, you can't, legally. Just go download AIM or MSN and give it to them directly.

Woah.. you're telling me it's illegal??

                  (famous last words, haha)

So, I can understand if someone is recording cover tunes and then posting them all over the place without the publisher's rights, but if they are original tunes then how can that be illegal?

Thanks for the tips guys, I will check them out now.

You are looking for a way to distribute original content to friends/people you advert to and anyone else? That is perfectly legal.

Uploading ripped content from purchased material falls into various shades of fair-use / illegal activity.

Torrents, if you know how, is a good way to distribute to many people if your target is "savvy" (i.e. geeky).

Yes, that is what I want to do. Sort of. But actually, the songs are not original yet. They are older songs that are owned by major publishers. Hmm, yeah I guess it is illegal until I have the publisher's blessing.

The people who need to hear this stuff are not all savvy and neither am I. -_-

You're not selling it so I think it's still legal. I'm pretty sure playing someone else's song is legal. Letting someone else hear you play someone's song...also legal.

The biggest problem you'll run into is having enough bandwidth (per day or per month). If you upload somewhere, your friends will probably run into "bandwidth temporarily exceeded" come back tomorrow if they all run out and download at the same time.

This Streamload looks like 100MB per month- two 5 MB songs times 10 friends and that's your limit for the month.
