But since I shouldn't compare flamenco to rock-guitarists, I'll throw in Satriani and Jimi aswell.
Paco de Lucia, is awesome...was going to lump that together with Dimeola and McLaughlin. Good call! On the line of de Lucia, I would group or also say that Birelli Lagrene is amazing as well as a prodigy and understudy to Django Reinhardt!
May your shit come to life and kiss you on the face.
No.39 = Neil Young...oh please Cortez the Killer is a redundant song that lacks anything...I do not even think there is a lead in this song...it's all distortion. I learned how to play this yrs ago...it's a standard 3 chord lame tune that repeats itself over and over again.
I would have at least put Pete Townshend & the Who or Mick Taylor and the Rolling Stones before and in place of any Neil Young hippie style crap rock anyday. Only thing Neil Youg had going for him was the Mutton Chop Sideburns that came back in style with the TV show 90210.
Interesting listing/link of the top rock guitarists.

Dumb list, to think they would possibly not include Voodoo Child (slight return) in the top ten.

You must have meant Duane Allman, as Greg is a keyboard player?
Duane & Eric = Derick & The Domino's
But since I saw Buddy Guy added prior, I forgot to enter Albert King & Albert Collins to my list.
also Peter Green from the original Fleetwood Mac...not that girlie band they turned into
Shit you're right I meant Duane. In my stonedom I mixed Greg Lake, Greg Allman, and Duane Allman up (Greg Lake being the guitarist/vocalist for Emerson Lake and Palmer whom I also like very much). But yeah Derick & the Dominoes got a pretty good duo with Allman/Clapton but I still prefer the Betts/Allman.
The Shadows and The Eagles (I have no clue what the dudes names are)
Knopfler, Clapton, Santana
Hank Marvin (Marven maybe??) and Joe Walsh (legend!)
What's bugging my mind is, howcome nobody's said a word about Pete Townshend/THe Who??

Townshend is an excellent lyricist/composer and, in later albums, proved his worth on the guitar. But for the most part in The Who Townshend was overshadowed by the uncanny Keith Moon and driving John Entwistle on drums and bass respectively. Townshend was a pretty good rhythm guitarist with his self-invented wind-mill playing style, though.
Listen to Who's Next or Quadrophenia for some serious Townshend guitaring. He's definitely worth a damn.
I'm even more surprised nobody has mentioned Steve Howe from Yes. He's an amazing and versatile guitarist.
