                That's really cool. I saw a report on slashdot but that video explains it really well. The card trick is a nice trick.

                To explain for the less geeky:

                Apparently, light bouncing off an object will follow the same path if the light is reversed. They use that principle to calculate the reverse view of an object as if the camera was where the light source was.

                They do this by lighting a scene one pixel at a time from a projector, recording it in a camera, and then "reversing" the light paths. After they reverse it, they can recreate a "picture" from where the projector sits.

                In the last demo in the video, they show they can recreate a view of the face of a playing card from the projector's view, even though the back is turned toward the actual camera.

                Being able to use this for movie tricks sounds like a great idea but it seems limited right now since it requires 1) still objects and 2) darkness so that the projector light isn't washed out.

                  Well, I'm sure this will be unlikely to actually help anyone with getting extra money from casinos given that they probably spend more effort on security than any government :P
