I've been a long time fan of Sonic Youth, and they have always mentioned being influenced by Neil Young, and how he is the real Godfather of Grunge. I had never really heard much of his experimental stuff, just his hits like Rockin In the Free World, but I saw a movie (Year of the Horse) which had some clips of him in the 70's and 80's, and it kind of gave me more of an understanding of why SY thought he was so influential. I thought it was pretty damn cool, actually.
Just wondering if anyone else in here is a big Neil Young fan, and if you could point me in the direction of a couple of albums you would think are good "starter" albums for his edgy, experimental shit...you know, with the wailing feedback symphonies, and other such psychedelic, shit.
Please, no responses from Tone. You have zero credibility with me, so I won't be weighing any of your quasi-nonsense into it anyway.
