Well there's two ways I see this - my friends think ATDI is sad because you know, the lyrics really are sort of sad, but when I hear ATDI, I just gotta start dancing like a maniac, and in that respect it's very upbeat. I only feel the urge to dance to ATDI and TMV, and maybe a ska band or two.

My favorite examples of the ATDI paradox are "Arc Arsenal" and "Embroglio". Both have pretty heavy lyrics but I just start shaking my ass like my middle name was Juan everytime I hear them.

I really wasn't that big of a fan until I went through a few steps

1) saw live videos - holy shit
2) discovered the plot between TMV's De-Loused and Frances albums, increasing my respect for omar
3) LISTENED to the music, like alone in a room with nothing but atdi/tmv on for hours on end, and really understood the talent behind the sound engineering and guitar

It's beyond the music, for me, as well. They're the musical version of Rudy, the guys everyone in their hometown of El Paso said would never go anywhere and did. They respect old friends and are really sentimental, it's cool like that.
