Sometimes. You can ingrain it into yourself, as a psychological experiment. Try spending the long hours of the night playing FF3 or a similar, immersing game whilst listening to a radio station that tends to repeat songs. I now associate "The Zephyr song" (Red hot chili peppers) with Final fantasy 3(US 3, jap 6)

It's also a commonly used tactic in the art and advertising world. Danger signs are red, red traffic lights mean stop, red is the colour of a heart ( <3 ), anger (I see Red).
Also colours have been linked to emotions. One is more likely to feel happy in a room with coloured wallpaper than a grey room. The human mind works in mysterious ways, but it likes to associate things with other things.
A friend of mine doing psychology told me one guy trained his kid to be mortally afraid of rabbits, by making a very loud, frightening sound while showing the kid a picture of (or real) rabbit. Eventuaaly the kid began to anticipate the sound, and thus got scared whenever he saw a rabbit.

i look this up, has nothing to do with synaesthesia. it might be possible to induce it very very slightly and crudely with the right drug. other than that it must just be a trait.

heres the easiest example

1) White is the color which is all the light freqencies, low to high, being reflected back to your eye, thats why it looks white.

2) White Noise is a shhhh sound, like the sound of a TV receiving no signal. White Noise is a mixture of all the audible freqencies, low to high. (Just like the color white is all the light freqs together)

3) No surprise, White Noise is preceived of as being white in color by anyone who preceives something.
