Not the "Independance" per se, as the Queen is technically still our head of state. Dominion Day, renamed Canada Day in 1982, marks the anniversary of the British North America act that came into effect July 1, 1867 that officially joined the British territories into what became known as the Dominon of Canada.
So yes, technically we're celebrating a parliamentary act. You can't get any more Canadian.Comment
