I always hear about information called -subject- 101. This information seems to cover an entire topic. So.. I know what it means, but what does 101 refer to, why 101 ?

I guess in schools (in universities / colleges as well) they have courses like English 100, 101, 110, etc. So it just got off from that. After all, we're in academic facilities to learn information, so (whatever) 101 refers to this very same thing.♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫

More than that though, people use 101 specifically because it usually refers to the most basic course in any particular field, or sometimes just a general overview.Comment

The auto shop in my school was room 101....... alot of...... not so bright kids took that class....... but I only took grade 10, 11 and 12........
