I think there are too many people who lack the social skills to speak on this subject, T0NE and Stylez being the main examples. No, if you even read my posts with an open mind, I said countless times that I've thought about all of this before... I've been where you were... I use to think on a scientific mind frame...

I'm a very open minded person... I like to probe into things and ask questions to people, not rebutting their opinions, but to make sure they are fully capable of debating with me on actual facts that they might know and not just manifest some junk that might make them look intelligent...

You try to be on the opposite end of the spectrum here and be bombarded by 5 or 6 people at once and try to answer them all with an open and unbiased view... But yet, keeping to what you believe in... See how you come off...

I've discussed this material with a many of people, people that would make you look inferior... Certainly my sister, who already has one degree and is getting another at FSU... She graduated at the top of her class, magna cum laude status...

Main thing about this thread is, educate yourself with religion, if that's what you are interested in.

Don't try to make other people convert to your religion because you think your religion is right.

Just let everyone decide for themselves.

Biblical ideas rarely can be tested. I don't see how someone with a scientific mind could end up believing/knowing this stuff. You will rarely be able to explain anything with religious ideas and who you are as a christian, that's why people are going at you. No one is inferior with what they believe, I think you're into this stuff far to deep and it's a superiority thing now.


All references are there for you to disprove and examine. The idea that I would be able to explain astrophyics or that I could even explain it to another person is absurd. At the same time I do not know or believe in this stuff, it is something for you to look into, it's something for you repost on once you've looked into it. That said you can't take scientific ideas and try to disprove them with religious text. If you want to know what I think on these subject that's fine but do it in a way so that once the thread is done (and this one is on life support) I can respect you, your thoughts and respect your religion.

No, what youre saying is that you are annoyed by small brained people who can't debate properly or formulate logically sound arguments, and you think we should all just shut up because "most of us"...meaning everyone but you, are incapable of having this discussion.

It doesn't stop being a discussion just because one of the sides is outnumbered. When the discussion stopped in this case is when a 3rd party, aka Troll King, entered the fray and started insulting discussion participants by saying that they were incapable of even having this discussion. That led to the current discussion, which is a 100% useless discussion pertaining to your insult and my responses....although I must say it is equally entertaining.

No, I'm saying exactly what I said. Why is it that people seem to argue against what they think I said instead of arguing against what I actually said? I don't think I'm qualified to have this discussion either and I don't mean to insult anyone else by saying that (believe me, if I wanted to insult you, it would have hurt more). It's just the truth. None of us have the expertise enough to actually discuss the issues brought up here, and I believe that this is the kind of topic that deserves better.

The only arguments being thrown about aren't arguments at all but just opinions based on our own biases. When I say that people can't form proper arguments, I don't mean that they aren't following debate rules or any crap like that; just that anyone who actually does know about the topic can easily respond and counter those points, both for and against. I mean, haven't people realized yet that the people accusing the religous of being close-minded have also shown that they are close-minded about religion. I don't think Stylez is capable of properly defending his stance the way he feels it should be defended. This discussion is just beyond the scope of most of us here (myself included). Heck, I'm not even the only one who thinks that, half a dozen others have said the same thing throughout this thread.

Not fully understanding something shouldn't keep you from discussing it, no matter what the topic--otherwise how would we learn more about it?

I hate to say this, and I don't want you to take it the wrong way. That kind of thing, is generally the hallmark sign of a snob. Don't know if it's you or not, but it's a little odd to be talking about requirements to participate in any manner of free and open discussion.

It's not being a snob if I don't think I'm qualified either. Escalate implied that I thought I was the only one capable of discussing this, but if you look at the actual posts in this thread, I've barely said anything since the second page or so.

There's free and open discussion, but this has long stopped being discussion. Hell, half the posts in this thread begin with people saying that someone else didn't understand what they were saying. Everyone's acting like that professor in line at the movies in Annie Hall, but no one here has played Woody Allen's Alvy and pulled out Pope Benedict to say: "I hear-I heard what you were saying. You-you know nothing of my work. You mean my whole fallacy is wrong. How you ever got to teach a course in anything is totally amazing."

People do that to me on here all the time as well... They want to be right, no matter what, so they stray away from the real question with a question of their own... It's rather tedious to keep arguing with people like that, they will never not have their way (yes, I used a double negative, I know)...
