Looks like he just payed more attention to the camera than the road. The thud noise is the wierdest part.

I guess I'll take your opinion since you sound like you know what you are talking aboutOriginally posted by jesus=terroristYou can tell the guy must have been a rookie, cuz he tries to put his foot down while going about 30-40 mph. It's instinct, but when you're going that fast it's only going to hurt your chances of escaping.the price is right, bitch.

I've never been through that kind of accident, thank god, but I'm in the middle of a motorcycle safety class right now. We're doing the road course, but we've already finished the classroom instruction and written exam.
I'm no expert by any means, but I have been taught by other riders and the CMSP instructors never to do this at speed. It's ok to "power walk" (ride and put your feet down for stability) at low speeds, but if you do it while going fast, you can break your leg/ankle, and plus, it really does nothing to add stability at this speed.
It's hard to say what he should have done exactly, because rarely are the cause of motorcycle accidents due to any ONE thing. They are usually caused by several things going wrong at the same time. For example, this guy looked like he downshifted into a lower gear than necessary, lost traction, tried to save with his feet, then "target fixated" on the wall causing him to "aim" for it, instead of looking at the direction of his path of escape.
If he had actually pushed his handlebars left, accelerated, and leaned into the turn, he might have avoided it.
