Has anyone ever made a Widget on OSX?

I'm looking at you Geekbot and Sarien.

I have one that I am trying to make for my friend over at www.myextralife.com, and it isn't really working as well as I had hoped. I have all the files uploaded and I need some help. It requires knowledge of HTML, CSS, and (I guess, but it might be universal) OS X.

    http://s38.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3...T3EPFALHVJ50ED

That is a ZIP file with the files that you need to make the Widget.

I have the basic background image, named "Default.png". In the CSS file, I have a span class defined as "comic" which would place the comic (http://www.myextralife.com/strips/current.gif) in the space that I have whited out. It works fine in theory (http://www.geocities.com/zeldasam619...ifeWidget.html), but when I bundle it to make it a .wdgt file, the comic doesn't appear.

I don't really know why it's not working, and I would appreciate it greatly if anyone could help me out.

    Thanks.

      I should have expected this.

Some say that the word 'widget' is derived from the combination of 'window' and 'gadget'.

From looking at the internals of another comic widget, and from what I've seen with the extensive use of javascript in widgets, you need to use a javascript to grab and throw the comic to the webpage that is your widget.

I'd also look at resizing that thing. It's fairly huge.

Resizing I will do, when I get a chance.

But, what I don't get is why I cannot just <img src="image.gif"> the freaking thing.

I can do it if it is local (in the same folder), but if it is online, it doesn't do anything!

            Fuckin' A.

So here's a challenge. Anyone who can Javascript a .js file that would take the image at http://www.myextralife.com/strips/current.gif and download it into the folder. It should check every day. I think. I don't know.

            I need help.

This thread reminds me of Jack Dee's beer advertisements.
