They're not trying to hack into your computer. Usually, they're trying to harm your computer, making it hard to use for you. Also, spyware spies (duh) what websites you're using and sends you spam according to it (yeah, it can find out your e-mail address and even your password). That doesn't usually happen but it's possible. Of course it's a longshot, but some people DO answer to viagra e-mails.

At the moment, there must be almost a hundred holes to IE's security. Opera has zero, Firefox has a few to my knowledge.

firefox + spyware blaster the immunizing only program + zone alarm the generic firewall with preset settings that are fine, only bothers you with one-time outgoing program access dialogs nothing else + Spybot + Adaware + antivir the antivirus that finds more than all the others because it has more definitions + system mechanic the best computer maintainence package program there is which includes reg cleaner, boot time defrag, optimize defrag, clean deleted file data, built in spyware scanner, junk file cleaner, start up manager, internet conneciton optimizer (changes settings for your particular connection for minimal packet loss) + more.

if you install system mechanic, be sure to uncheck the last two boxes in the installer, do not install the firewall or virus scanner in the package because they conflict with the ones you already have, just install system mechanic and its features. uncheck 4th and 5th boxes in the installer.

Opera owns FF any day. Especially the mouse gestures.

Tabs are the biggest plus about Firefox for me.
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

I think I heard that the next version of IE will have tabs. It wouldn't surprise me though; it's just a very sensible idea. It makes browsing multiple threads in a forum a breeze. I never liked the feel of IE though. It always seemed a bit cold to me, but that's a matter of personal preference.

Thanks, I'll give it a whirl. The ads were the dealbreaker for me before.

Opera owns FF in that area too. I'm seriously hardcore when it comes to multiple windows, and backwards/forwards when i browse (especially in forums).

Lets just give an example on how genious Opera is.

I get on the general thread in this forum. Then I see 7 interesting threads.
I click on them with my mouse wheel (which opens the things in a new window while I'm at the page I'm looking at).
I finish reading one thread, and then I make a fast Down + Right movement (while holding right mouse button down) with my mouse to close the window I'm looking at fast, instead of moving the arrow to the tab on the top, THEN click on the X.

Then I suddenly remember that there was 1 thread that was interesting, but dont remember which one, since i have 7 tabs open. So I just hold the right mouse button down and then scroll with my mouse wheel. And a little thing pops up, with the different windows, and the names on them. And I just pick what I was looking for.

Then I read a thread with 20 pages, and some guy quotes a bit of what a guy said on page 15, so I hold right button, and click 5 times with left to go back and read what he said. Then hold left + click with right to go forward again.

                  Opera, go get it now.

Or you could click on the links and just use the convential internet.

Learning all this jargon is useless, because besides forums, why would I need to go to the 5th page back of something?

I could JUST AS EASY, go click the number 15 on the top right corner, and probably save a second or two in the mean time.

Shut the hell up. Alot of times the Opera thing pisses me off, because I use a Mac and have only one button. Alot of times I would find my windows just close and after I disabled the mouse shit, there was no advantage to Opera.

It's all about 2 buttons, my not so intelligent, but very ugly little friend.

Maybe its hard since you're a fat stupid geek. If you want simple things, go play a gameboy with 2 buttons, doesnt require much thinking.

Don't you love it when people start insulting each other over their browser preferences? Who would have thought that Ratty would have taken DTF's comments so personally? Imagine how he'd react if DTF actually insulted him.

I recently (meaning in December) picked up a three-button mouse and often go back to the single button mac mouse simply because it is steadier than all the other mouses out there. I use the Mac mouse for gaming and use the Apple button for second fire.

I bet I could school you in counter-strike using this config. But you would just call me a fat-ass, over a fucking browser or whatever this original bitch was about. But anyhow, Firefox is still better, and you need to go get laid.
