The original plan was to have seven people come up here and stay, but four more stumbled in around 3:00 this morning. The thing is I don't even know how safe we are despite being almost 200 miles inland. We could be just as fucked as Galveston.

I feel really bad for WARK, he is in houston and he is going to get it hard.

$10 says the eye will hit far enough right to where Houston wont get hurt, and all that evacuating of Houston will be pointless.

I live in Shreveport, LA(top left corner of LA) the eye's coming up not too far to the left of us.. which means, we get much cooler weather, and finally some rain... it's been 100+ degrees for like a week, end of goddamn Septemper.

Just came back from taking my cousin to get a bite to eat. Incoming traffic on 59-North is still ridiculous. We passed by the local Exxon station and cars were all over the parking lot, pointed in all directions in an attempt to get to a pump. A line of additional cars about half a mile long stuck out from the station entrance. Further down 59-North wasn't much better, as Houston drivers that were unfamiliar with Lufkin's fucked up road system were bringing traffic to a crawl with last-second lane changes and U-turns. I'm probably going to try to get to a gas station late tonight before their ridiculous price gouging takes full effect, and I'm going to try not to leave this subdivision until some of the chaos subsides.

I do plan on riding the storm out here, as some reports I've heard indicate that the effects of the storm this far inland should be mild. Hopefully the people further south have gotten out of the way and found somewhere safe to go, because this isn't looking good even though the storm fell to a category 4 earlier.

I would have thought a basement would be handier, as the top of the house (ie attic) would be the first to get ripped off in high winds.

I suppose.. basement first.. but then.. you know.. you got that water thing, you know, water up to the roofs, that's where an attic might come in handy, but then you might have to axe your way to the roof!
