No. 3 looks middle eastern with the beard cut off square like that. Maybe some old babylonian king or something.... I don't really know that stuff.

I'm clueless on the other two but no.1 looks like a train station. It has a similar kind of style to St. Pancras station in London.

The third picture is a lamassu.

EDIT: The architecture on the first picture looks sort of Slavic, but I could swear that I've seen that station in Switzerland, so I dunno.

Nice job Vykromond...I'll pass on the next obscurity of objects to you.
**3.) The Syrian Winged Bull or better known as the Lamassu. It was or still maybe on exhibit at the Louvre.

        Btw...

1.) Music Hall: Cincinnati, OH (Just some nice architecture)

2.) George W. Bush (Yes Georgie was a cheerleader!!)

No way! You weren't supposed to give away the other two yet! Rule #2, man! Rule #2!

          Aaaanyway....

You get three pictures, all you have to do is identify what they are, who they are or where they are.

If you know one of the pictures then shout out but someone needs to know all three before they can post their own. Keep your pictures small, googleproof and not too obscure or too easy.

#1) (this is pretty much gonna have to be a "what")

          #2) ("what," "where")

          #3) ("what," "where")

Hmmm.. this is way too difficult. A bit harder and much more archaeological than I intended.

#2 is a caryatid, a female figure used as a column. Maybe it's one of the ones from the Acropolis in Athens, from the Caryatid Porch of the Erechtheion. It could be the one of the six that apparently the brits nicked. I had to google around for that.

#1 looks familiarish, 3# looks like a church... a bit.

yup..the first picture is definatily familiar. The upper half of the face of the man-lion looks like a high-positioned lord or the such

Sorry about the difficulty. It's tough to gauge when you know all three of them.

Yes, #2 is a caryatid. A sufficient answer for "where" would have been ancient Greece, since that was the most prevalent location for them.

                  Here are some vague hints:

What, VERY GENERICALLY, is #1? Don't try to immediately identify it; work from the category of what it is to the specifics. Once you have a general category, describe its characteristics as you see them, and then match it up to a thing. This one is tough, especially because the picture is kind of bad.

#3 is a church, correct. But what kind of church? What separates this church from other, ordinary churches? This one is actually not that difficult IMHO, at least not more than your Portuguese statue. Think Europe again for this one.

                    Is #1 a manticore?

I think the problem with this game is that some of the answers are a little more specific than others are.

Wish I could see the Dome on top of that church. Would be a dead give away as to what the faction of relegion/church this would be. Slavik, Polish or Russian Orthodox...

The sculture itself of the female standing in front of the column is indeed pre-roman as it does not show a contraposta stance. If you do not know what contraposta means ...hit google It does have an Early Greek look, yet the doric capital of the column seems to be of a later style mixing erectium w/doric. Is it a statue of Hera? EDIT: Hmm that Capital is actually a Stylized Roman Doric...so it could be early Roman...too many years since I was in an Art History Class

This caryatid in particular is everything GoldenPlums said: it dates to the late 400's BC and supported the Erectheion for a while before it ended up in the British Museum. Again, it would be retarded for me to expect an answer that specific, since my initial impulse with the picture was "here, let me googleimages for a caryatid, they all look roughly the same." Anything more precise is just brownie points, really.

I was taught the term as "contrapposto," FWIW

K, this one has gone on for too long. The images I put up were two of the famous Romanian "painted churches."

                                GoldenPlums, I think you're up.
