Judging by that last sentence you didn't even watch the playoffs.. the leafs were being owned, destroyed and controlled, Belfour is the only person on that team that deserved to make it to the next round.

And Sens fans only wish they could get out of the first round consistantly like ours. Sure, you can say they're aiming for the cup, but based on their track record and performances during the playoffs, the Leafs have been much closer towards reaching that aim than the Sens have ever had. Talk all you want about their rosters and who looks better than who on paper, but when your team only wins 4 playoff series in 8 playoffs, your arguments fall flat.

And do you really want to go on record thinking the Leafs only made it to the third round just once in 40 years? You talk a good game, but like the Sens, fail to impress when faced with the cold, hard truth.

But with the d and forwards we have and the fact that they've been pressured into carrying the goalie many times before, we should be good to go either way. Boo Leafs.

How are the leafs closer to the cup goal? As far as I know the last time they made stanley cup finals was when they actually got the cup, 20 years before I was even born so correct me if I'm wrong. I only started watching hockey 12 years ago so the only team I'm really knowledgable about is the Senators.

When our team wins 4 playoff series in 8 playoffs, all that says is our team was/is young. The sens are still developing, and they're only getting better. I find it funny that you won't even realize how little the Senators were given and what they made out of it, the leafs have been handed the world (or at least all of the corperate funds imagineable). At least I can respect the fact that the leafs have an amazing goalie and great passion, but I pity the TML fans for (what seems like to me) the crappy GM.. With a GM like Muckler before the salary cap the Leafs would actually be cup contenders, not just clutch-and-grabbing bullying assholes who are better known for whining than scoring.

If Hasek should choke, Emery would be able to handle us into the playoffs... but not through them. He doesn't have the experience that would be necessary to handle the playoffs pressure. I really hope Hasek can keep it up, I'm definitely content with his play right now, but I've yet to go "WOW! What a save!". It was nice to see him play tonight.

Speaking of Ottawa goalies, I heard Lalime did absolutely terrible... I really feel bad, but I'm glad he's not playing for ottawa anymore. Kinda sad since he used to be my favorite player. What am I going to do about this now?

Maybe I'll get it changed to Mezsaros (sp?) ?

How about you let time pass? If it's April and the Leafs are doing like crap (read: not making the playoffs) or May and the Leafs are knocked out (hey, maybe by the Sens) then you could talk whatever you want. Until then, this whole "we are better than the Leafs" thing is silly but at least its a good sign that hockey is back after all. Don't worry, I wont play the "Sens beat the Leafs in the regular season but can't do fuck all in the playoffs" card, but I will say that with all the factors taken into consideration (roster changes, rule changes, etc) this might be a good year for one of the two, thats for sure.

Sorry to hijack this thread somewhat, but what are your thoughts on the 'new' NHL so far? I feel the game is flowing a lot faster especially thanks to the decrease in icing calls. I don't mind the increase in penalty calls but do feel that it is a bit inconsistent but I'm sure it will balance itself out. I'm mixed on the removal of ties and introduction of shootouts.

I love it. The no clutch and grab is FANTASTIC! I love seeing Havlat drive to the net, that kid's fucking fast!
It's so back-and-forth now.. I love the minimal icing calls, and the no-line-change on icing

So far the new rules have been great, but I agree there needs to be more consistancy. They'll let things slide for a while and then call every little thing.. it's frustrating, but like you said- I'm sure it will balance out when everyone becomes more comfortable with the new rules.

The only one that I REALLY dislike is the shootouts. It's pretty ridiculous to play for 3 periods and have it all go to shit off of 3 shots. As unbelievable as it may seem, I felt bad for leafs fans after their team outplayed the senators for 2.5 periods and ended up losing because of our amazing goalie (hehehe). But in all seriousness, I liked the way overtimes worked before, it did suck to end on a tie-game, but it's better than losing over some bullshit luck in a shootout.

Though I do disagree that the shootouts are a bit shitty because it rests most of the game entirely on the goalie when it should be a team aspect, it does add some excitement to the game. I don't see why they didn't try out playoff style overtime and play till someone scores in the preseason.
