Ashlee is left handed. T0ne pain is one of natures way's of telling us something is terribly wrong. Let me put it this way, if a baby sees a fire, it'll naturally think its cool, and try to touch it. Now if it can't experience pain it'll most likely kill/burn itself, because it doesn't know that the fire is hurting it. Pain makes love stronger, helps us enjoy, makes us appreciate everything around us, and inspires artists, and actors of all sorts. I think pain killers are good enough for us. What people like him should be worrying about is how to get rid of MENTAL pain without the use of drugs.

Getting rid of pain just seems unnecessary.
Speaking of Tone's grammar, I love his quotation which someone has in his/her sig. Something about "definetely probably". Reminds me of a quotation from the Monk series: "I'm 100% sure she probably killed him".boo...

This has definitely been the most interesting post in a while. I'm far from religious and I believe that modern technology can achieve a lot for us, but this is one of the few areas where I kind of have to fall back on a more "natural" way of looking at the world. I usually get this way after listening to the song natural beauty by neil young. Basically, the farther man is taken away from nature, the worse off we are. As we are relying more and more on the power of technology, we are disrupting the "balance" of all life. When I look at certain things such as how the cells of our body produce energy; how we are able to percieve emotions; how we have lost much of our instinct, replaced by the ability to reason (the divergence from all other known living beings, making us already so.. unnatural) and how perfectly everything seems to balance with eachother, I believe that if we break this balance only bad can come of it.
We've already done this in numerous ways, for example: pollution. It all comes down to 2 things: greed, and the fact that we are able to do things and not have to worry about the consequences until they are coming crashing down on us. Look at all the fossil fuels we are burning, we have given up our own and the planet's health for the convenience a fast vehicle affords us. The balance has been broken here and we are already beginning to suffer the consequences of pollution and global warming. I know what I am trying to get at here is much more complex than this little analogy, but I don't really feel like turning this post into a book.
All pleasure with no pain, there is absolutely no balance in that. Humans are already a defective species with far more power than we are able to handle. Whatever it is that sparked our "intellectual evolution" has given us this blessing/curse of reason. We've already taken this ability too far, and we are still ignoring the consequences on the horizon (for example: the leader of the most powerful country in the world still opposes the Kyoto accord).
Ok this post turned into a huge rant, without much substance. It's more of a philosophical argument, but here's the bottom line: balance is what keeps life going, and every action has an equal and opposite reaction. If you are willing to break the balance of pleasure/pain, you are going to pay for it.I AM NOT AN ANIMAL
