With Liquid's great threads roases many questions about ourselves that with the past few threads we've come to discuss with each other on pretty good terms, which is great.

There was a question I put out that no one really touched on however, though I think it's a great question and a good way to give us a reflection of ourselves.

Why are we, the smartest and most advanced species on this planet, the ONLY species that hates and kills itself for no real good reason? We are so intelligent, or have the ability to be so intelligent, yet we hate other people because of their skin color, their sexual preference, disabilities, weight, whether or not they wear glasses, religious beliefs, etc etc. People always say we are smarter than animals, which granted we are, but animals kill or fight each other out of things like territory, food and mating, basic animal instincts. Granted people also fight each other over territory... but that's not a basic instinct because humans are supposed to be smart enough to live and work together.

So why do you think people dislike/hate/kill each other for such stupid reasons such as how they look, skin color, what they believe in(in terms of religion), money, weight, homosexual, etc etc? And is there anything to the list you can add of completely stupid things people hate each other for?

people hate each other because they crave power. they can never just mind their own business, and take care of their own lives. nay, some people can, but those people will hate the ones who cant.

Granted people also fight each other over territory... but that's not a basic instinct because humans are supposed to be smart enough to live and work together.

The only reason you don't know if animals are just as racist as humans are is because they can't communicate with us. I think we have the potential for more neuroses, because our brains are so much more developed than any other animal.

But as far as the fighting for territory, food and mating, and the basic animal instincts...all those things are the same reason why we hate each other over religion, sexuality, disabilities and weight:

Seriously, life makes a lot more sense when you look at things from an anthropological perspective.

kill everybody above 5 except for some intelligent people and this will be solved. its all about what you get tought, thats how stuped we are. all this shitty place leaves an impression and mostly anywone will be glad to find someone to burden his misery on. this hate you talk about is just a valve for this messed up world. something has gone wrong and you all know it. but its easier to blame some white or black guy than to actually think what are we good for, why are we here and what shall we do. your boss sucks, your collegues or whatever, but its never you or the way you live. as long as you are not happy with yourself there will be this hate. work harder, earn more money, fuck more whatever, gather more people to like you. this is and has been the primary goal of so many people, of so many civilisations. fake goals of the sheep. easy pray for the wolf.

the prime example, hitler, wanted to paint, but this was not good enough. he needed money and attention and overall success. if someone would have tought him that none of that is from any importance, god knows how the past would have gone different. instead he got mad because he was so poor and others were so rich and noone liked his art.

you might not like your boss or your neighbours because they drive a bigger car, someone else doesnt like crippled people because they cost so much. there is no difference for me the reason is bullshit in both cases. now look at us milking money out of the 3rd world, everytime you succeed with something, someone else has to pay the price. its our wrong way to live that causes that, its our every day decission to work an extra hour that day to buy a new car we need to get to work. thats what we want, how are we not supposed to get mad at some random bullshit? get bigger, be better, never succeed. fuck it i say, fuck it im outa here.

the only chance i give us all is to find love and live for it, thats the only easy escape we get. its pure, and its like everything should be. but we forgot that, or maybe we never knew it. as for the rest, our life is shit already, get over it, or change it, but dont expect anyone else to be the cause of the problem. you dont get that tought in school, no, they tell you to get better marks to get better jobs to get more money to get a better life to support the elders. theres your answer, our past, our teachers, our parents, our lack of revolution.

I hate the people who are dumb, having problems handling their own lives, yet sticking their noses into others' lives and trying to dictate those who are much smarter and more knowledgeable than they are.

You would think that they wouldn't succeed, but you are wrong. What you do not realise is that there are too many stupid people around, and those idiots support stupid things for numerous short-sighted reasons.

Although those idiots will eventually realise their mistakes, by then the consequences are usually too hard to be reversed. Annnd, their stupid decisions would have immediate effects on the smart ones who opposed those retarded decisions.

When you say "kill each other for no real good reason", you have to first quantify what makes a "real good reason". If you're basing your definition on human standards, then of course, you'd think that animals wouldn't do that, but how are we to know what is or isn't a good reason in their perspectives? You mentioned territory as a reason animals might kill each other, but wouldn't that apply to humans as well? And by territory, I don't just mean physical space or habitation; you can expand territory to possessions, money or even power. Animals often fight each other to become the more dominant member of their social network. Humans do the same thing. I think the only difference is that we've got a more sophisticated social system that adds complex labels and categories, but if you simplify it and strip away the social differences, you'll probably find a closer connection to how you described animals.

This isn't entirely valid because since our thoughts control our realities (what you think is real is real to you) - there might just be a "real good reason" and justification for the killing. Your understanding isn't requesite to its reality. A more valid question might be - why haven't all people figured out how to handle things without resorting to violence?

There's an easy answer to this... the reason is because our minds are programmed by evolution to make rapid, summary judgements based on instincts we have developed over time. These instincts are formed based on one's own experiences or those of others. Nature provides us with a means of sizing up an individual rapidly. In doing so, it allows us determine friend from foe, the potential threat they represent, their political stature within a group, and other useful tidbits. Information flows into the mind rapidly upon an initial encounter, providing the human animal with the information it needs to make a survival oriented flash judgement. The ability to transcend these animal instincts is dependant on the individual and the individual's level of intellectual enlightenment.

Don't get all caught up on what humans are supposed to be. You're assuming that humans aren't animals, or that they're *supposed* to be better than animals. This is a hint of idealism on your part, because it avoids a basic truth of human existance. Humans are animals. The difference between us and them is that we have some additional control over our natural animal instincts. We can override them at times, or we can indulge in them. Some of us have more control than others, and it shows in how they act.

Some people just don't know any better. I admit I have prejudices - everyone does. The mind naturally puts objects (of any type, including people) into categories, to which are assigned attributes. Lets call this combination of categories and attributes by the name pertinent to this discussion - stereotypes.

I would suggest that people do these things because they haven't had the upbringing necessary to allow them to override these prejudices and stereotypes that naturally flow through the mind as part of animal instinct. Or, these individuals have had ideas pressed upon them by the social group or society that they live in.

Something we haven't covered yet is group mentality - which I think is a highly relevant subject. How people react as a group is a large factor in the decision making process. It's been said that the intelligence of a group of people is inversely proportonal to its size. While untrue in many ways, it is a valid observation on the effects of the social pressures of a group upon its individuals.

but the truth is, religion creates animosity which creates dislike which turns into hatred which makes people do stupid things, which makes governments allow stupid things to happen, which means there are no laws against doing stupid things... and you get a war, which is just another product of people being stupid and hating on each other
