Ernst Zuendel, who is this guy? what does this have to do with this thread?
Mr Zuendel, 66, moved to Canada in 1958 but was judged a national security threat and deported earlier this year. A German Holocaust denier who has regularly lavished praise on Adolf Hitler has gone on trial in Germany.
In 1988 he was convicted in Canada of "knowingly publishing false news" after issuing a leaflet carrying the title Did Six Million Really Die?
But in 1992, the Supreme Court struck down the "false news" law on the grounds that it violated freedom of expression.
Mr Zuendel, who never managed to obtain Canadian citizenship but had been living in Canada since 1958, moved to the US in 2001 but was later deported back to Canada for allegedly violating immigration laws.
Germany obtained an international warrant for his arrest in 2003, but it was two years before Canada judged him to be a security threat and ordered his deportation.
Hmmm...makes you wonder if any other nut cases or terrorists are living in Canada today?May your shit come to life and kiss you on the face.

We could just erect a 30 foot fence around canada, and just plain shoot on sight anyone trying to get over it. Let's make that a 30foot electric fence... and have automated turrets that shoot darts full of bird flu.. Yeah... that'd be fun

Yeah, you're way behind the time for just figuring this out now. Want to know what could be attacked in Canada? It's pretty simple to figure it out. When terrorists attack something it's has one of two things in mind, either Casualties (9/11, Train bombing in Madrid) or Psychological (London, 4 attacks at once)
So that means you're going to attack somethign with a lot of people, or something like a monument (a real monument, or something that stands out as a monument like the world trade centers,)
Possible monument targets would be the CN Tower, The Peace Bridge between Canada and the USA and things of that nature. Any major office building can serve as a casualty attack. An attack is almost 100% likly to be in either Toronto, Ottawa or Montreal, if not at a border crossing. Pretty unlikly to be out west. The only TWO TIME TWLJ All-Star and TWLB All-Star who never played a game.

Originally posted by Eric is GodI'm not 100% sure, but I believe more than a few of those hijackers were initially in Canada and then went to the US where they lived for years leading up to 9-11. I may be wrong about this, but I do know that it is much easier to gain immigrant status in Canada than it is in the US. Once you gain entry to Canada, it's quite easy (although the US has tried to make it much harder) to cross the border into the States. I don't know how many terrorists came directly to the US or how many came via Canada. I just know that it's an easier process to get Canadian citizenship and then move to the US than it is to directly gain US citizenship. One thing we discussed in my Economics Growth class last week is the estimated 150,000 illegal Canadian immigrants living in California at the moment.
Citizenship has nothing to do with it, these terrorists for the most part are not citizens of the countries that they attack (with the exception of the London bombers). And as for your little stat, there are FAR more illegal immigrants in California who entered in from Mexico than Canada.
The entire blaming of Canada for terrorists is just a cheesy cop-out for American politicians who don't want to admit that things went bad on their watch as it's just easier to blame Canada. The blaming of terrorists in Canada meanwhile is a Conservative Party tactic to get the Liberals out of parliment that never really worked and that no one seriously talks about any longer.
Yes the possibility remains that terrorists can enter through Canada to the USA, but then again they could also enter through to the USA via any other number of possible routes which are all just as easy.Epinephrine's History of Trench Wars:

As to the Conservative party crack... I plan to vote Liberal in the upcoming federal election. I'm an economist and therefore the overall well being of our economy is of major interest to me. I've always believed that the Conservative party has the best track record of managing the economy and that's why I tend to gravitate towards them. However, I consider myself a moral person and I have a social conscious. This new Conservative party scares the hell out of me when it comes to their religious and social views so I won't be voting for them.
My family was discussing this whole Gomery report and Liberal scandle issue last week and my dad asked me what I thought about it all. I told him I wasn't the least bit surprised because governments are always corrupt, just to different degrees, and if I'm disappointed in the Liberal government it's because they were stupid enough to caught. The NDP are way too left-wing and would ruin the economy, the Conservatives are way too right-wing and would ruin our social values. So I'm left choosing the corrupt "evil I know" with the Liberals. It just bugs me when people accuse you of being extremely right-wing when you believe in the possible value of ideas like the partial privitization of the health care system.
What scares me is people like my dentist (who we know really well because they have a cottage on our lake) who will be voting Conservative based solely on the fact that it will save him a few extra thousand in taxes every year (the guy already makes over $200,000). The country's problems are not black and white so the solutions can't be black and white either. I miss the old Progressive Conservative party, but they died and were swallowed by the religious right
Sorry for the rant, I only do them when I have 90 min to kill in between classes on Thursdays hehe.Last edited by Eric is God; 11-10-2005, 07:27 PM.
